Captains Quarters Code Subnautica — 2679 and All Aurora Door Codes

The Captain's Quarters code in Subnautica is 2679, entered on the keypad next to the door in the Aurora's living quarters. The other Aurora door codes are 1869 (Cabin No. 1), 1454 (Cargo Bay) and 6483 (Lab Access), plus a fourth code, 6666, that opens a room which was cut from the final game. All four working codes are received through the radio and PDA logs as you explore the wrecked ship — but if you just want the loot without the lore run, the numbers below are all you need.

Official resources: Steam store page · Official Subnautica Wiki — Aurora · IGN Subnautica page

Per the official Subnautica Wiki: "The Aurora is a Alterra Long Range Vessel of unknown class... The player is able to explore the Aurora after its drive core has exploded, as long as they have a Radiation Suit."

All Aurora Door Codes (Quick Reference)

Door Code What's inside
Captain's Quarters 2679 Neptune Escape Rocket blueprints, Aurora Miniature, Aurora Poster, PDAs
Cabin No. 1 1869 Blue Cap, Arcade Gorge Toy
Cargo Bay 1454 Supply crates — up to three Cyclops Engine fragments
Lab Access 6483 Sample flasks, microscope, supply crates, Sample Analyzer
Robotics Bay 6666 Cut content — the room was never implemented in 1.0

The codes are fixed and never change between playthroughs or updates, so write them down or bookmark this page. You only need to enter each code once per save — after that the door stays open.

The Captain's Quarters is the last door on the left

In the living quarters corridor, Cabin No. 1 (1869) is the first door on the left after the Prawn Suit bay. Keep walking to the end of the hall and the Captain's Quarters keypad is on your left, opposite the sealed door that leads toward the Lab Access area. The room is small: a bed, a desk, a wall of lockers and the poster collection.

Where to Find the Captain's Quarters Code In-Game

If you want to earn the code instead of reading it: the 2679 code arrives through a radio transmission triggered after your first trip into the Aurora, and it's also referenced in the 'Aurora Survivors' PDA data downloads scattered through the ship. In practice the sequence works like this:

  1. Board the Aurora (see the gear list below) and explore the drive room, Prawn bay and living quarters.
  2. Pick up the abandoned PDAs you find — they contain the codes for Cabin No. 1 (1869) and Lab Access (6483).
  3. After you leave, the radio delivers the Captain's Log transmission containing 2679.

You do not need the code to progress the main story — the Neptune blueprint fragments inside the Captain's Quarters are needed to build the escape rocket, but every one of those fragments can also be found elsewhere in the wreck. The Captain's Quarters is an optional completionist stop, not a roadblock.

What's Inside the Captain's Quarters

The room itself is mostly a lore payoff, but it holds two things worth the trip:

  • Neptune Escape Rocket blueprints — scan the fragments here to progress the endgame rocket build (they also spawn in the drive room and Prawn bay, so this isn't the only source).
  • Aurora Miniature and Aurora Poster — decorative base items that show up in screenshot showcases constantly.
  • Abandoned PDAs and a bed to scan — completionists who want the 'scan every object' databank will need the bed, which only exists in this room.
Loot the Cargo Bay first

If you're after pure value, use 1454 before 2679. The Cargo Bay's supply crates can contain Cyclops Engine fragments — the rarest component of the Cyclops blueprint, which is otherwise only farmable in the Crag Field and Mountains. Since our Subnautica Cyclops guide breaks down the full fragment hunt, grabbing a free engine fragment here can save you a dangerous trip.

Gear Checklist Before Boarding the Aurora

The codes are useless if the ship kills you first. The Aurora is radioactive until you repair its drive core, and it's patrolled by Reaper Leviathans outside. Minimum loadout:

  • Radiation Suit (mandatory until the drive core is fixed)
  • Repair Tool — fix the drive core, which stops the radiation
  • Laser Cutter — opens sealed doors blocking the Prawn bay and other corridors
  • Propulsion Cannon — clears blocked doorways and the alternative water exit
  • Scanner — you're here to scan fragments and PDAs
  • Fire Extinguisher — fires block paths and can trap you in a corner

Enter through the breached bow section, work the drive room first, then Prawn bay, then the living quarters corridor where all four keypads live.

Don't brute-force the codes

The keypad accepts unlimited attempts with no penalty, but there is no in-game hint that the codes exist outside the PDAs and radio. Guessing wastes time and gets you nothing — the codes are deterministic and the same every save. If you lost the radio message or want to skip the lore run entirely, the unlockdoors console command bypasses every keypad (see our Subnautica console commands guide for how to open the console — note it disables achievements on that save).

Do the Codes Change in Below Zero?

No — the Aurora door codes (2679 etc.) are exclusive to the original Subnautica, and Below Zero doesn't have a comparable wreck with keypads. The closest equivalent is the Mercury II, which has no door codes at all — access is gated by tools and story progression instead. If you're playing Below Zero and searching for a door code, you're looking in the wrong game; check our Subnautica Below Zero map guide for how that map's story progression actually works.

FAQ

What is the code for the Captain's Quarters in Subnautica?

  1. Enter it on the keypad next to the door at the end of the Aurora's living quarters corridor. The code never changes between saves or updates.

Where do I find the Captain's Quarters code in-game?

It arrives as a radio transmission after your first visit to the Aurora, and is tied to the 'Aurora Survivors: Captain's Log' PDA entries found inside the ship. The other door codes (1869, 1454, 6483) come from abandoned PDAs inside the wreck.

What is inside the Captain's Quarters?

The Neptune Escape Rocket blueprint fragments (also available elsewhere), the Aurora Miniature and Aurora Poster decorations, a scannable bed, and several lore PDAs. It's an optional stop, not a story requirement.

What are all the Aurora door codes?

Captain's Quarters 2679, Cabin No. 1 1869, Cargo Bay 1454, Lab Access 6483, and Robotics Bay 6666 (a room that was cut from the final game).

Can I open Aurora doors without the codes?

Yes — the unlockdoors console command opens every keypad door at once, though using the console disables Steam achievements on that save. The codes themselves cost nothing to type, so most players just enter them.
