All Subnautica Aurora door codes: 1454, 1869, 2679 and 6483, where each code is found, and exactly what's worth looting behind every door.
Subnautica Aurora Codes — All Four Door Codes and What's Behind Them
The Aurora has four keypad doors and the codes are 1454 (cargo bay), 1869 (Cabin 1), 2679 (captain's quarters) and 6483 (lab access). Two of them — 1454 and 6483 — are found on PDAs inside the ship itself, 1869 comes from a PDA in the locker room, and 2679 is the only one radioed to you later in the game. This guide lists every code, where each one is found, and — more usefully — what is actually worth looting behind each door, plus the gear you need to survive the trip.
Here's what you'll learn:
- All four Aurora door codes and where each PDA or transmission gives them
- The exact gear checklist before you swim out to the ship
- What's inside the captain's quarters, cargo bay, lab and cabins
- How to fix the drive core and end the radiation zone
- The mistakes that turn an Aurora run into a respawn

All Aurora Door Codes
Four doors on the Aurora take a keypad code. Memorize these or bookmark this table:
| Code | Door | How you get it | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1454 | Cargo Bay | "Notes to Self" PDA on the desk in the Administration Office (first room after the Prawn Bay) | Cyclops Engine Fragments can spawn in the cargo crates (rare); plenty of loot crates, a Propulsion Cannon fragment |
| 1869 | Cabin 1 | "Sweet Offer" PDA on a counter in the Locker Room (through the sealed door, requires the Laser Cutter) | Blue Cap, Arcade Gorge Toy, Abandoned PDA — mostly flavor and collectibles |
| 2679 | Captain's Quarters | Radioed to you later in the game by Alterra HQ | Neptune Escape Rocket blueprints, Aurora Miniature, Alterra HQ data terminal — required to finish the game |
| 6483 | Lab / storage room doors | "Lab Access" PDA near the lab (reached via the Prawn Bay tunnel) | Storage room with Disinfected Water, and a data terminal that unlocks the Repulsion Cannon blueprint |
Per the official Subnautica Wiki — Aurora: "At the end of the hallway is a locked door with a keypad that can be interacted with. Entering the code from the previously mentioned Data Download into the keypad will open the door. The code is 1454."
The codes are all found in the game's databank entries, but you don't need to backtrack for them — the table above is the complete set, and it matches both the official wiki and the Fandom wiki's Aurora walkthrough.
What to Bring Before You Board the Aurora
The Aurora is a one-way trip for under-prepared players. The drive core explodes a few days after the crash (you'll see the shockwave from the surface), and from that point the ship sits in a radiation field until you repair it. This is the minimum loadout:
- Radiation Suit — the blueprint unlocks automatically by radio after the Aurora explodes. Craft the suit, gloves and helmet (they come as a set) or you will take radiation damage long before you reach the hull.
- Repair Tool — required to fix the drive core and to mend the "Damaged Wiring" panels that block doors inside. Recipe: 1 Silicone Rubber + 1 Cave Sulfur + 1 Titanium.
- Laser Cutter — at least two sealed doors need cutting (the locker room and the lab route). One full battery cuts five doors plus a bit of a sixth — each door costs 17% of a battery. Bring a spare Battery.
- Propulsion Cannon or Repulsion Cannon — the cargo bay entrance is blocked by a pile of cargo crates. You can jump-sprint over them, but the cannon is the reliable way. The Repulsion Cannon blueprint is itself inside the ship (code 6483).
- Stasis Rifle — recommended, not required, for Cave Crawlers and Bleeders that swarm the interior.
- Fire Extinguisher — fires block several corridors, and you cannot put out one particular blaze in the cargo bay at all (jump over it).
- Scanner — there are lots of fragments and databoxes; you'll kick yourself for leaving it at home.
Before the drive core detonates the ship's interior is sealed and unreachable anyway, and you'll only meet Reaper Leviathans around the hull for nothing. After the explosion, going anywhere near the bow without the full Radiation Suit set will stack radiation damage until you die. Wait for the radio message, craft the suit, then go.
The main hull breach is on the port side near the bow, above the waterline. The stern (engine area) is Reaper territory — the Crash Zone spawns at least one Reaper Leviathan patrolling right off the rear thrusters. Approach from the bow and you can often do the whole run without a fight.
Captain's Quarters (Code 2679) — the Code Everyone Actually Wants
The captain's quarters is the single most important room on the ship, and 2679 is the only code that arrives via radio rather than a PDA — Alterra HQ transmits it as part of the story, so you can't rush it. Inside you'll find:
- Aurora Miniature — a collectible model you can pick up and place on a shelf in your base.
- Captain's Log PDA and the Alterra HQ — Last Recorded Transmissions data download.
- The high-security data terminal that unlocks all Neptune Escape Rocket blueprints — this is the endgame trigger. Without it, you can never build the rocket and leave the planet.
Don't waste time hunting for a 2679 PDA — there isn't one. The code is transmitted to your radio after you progress the main story past the Sunbeam event. If the door won't open, you're simply not far enough in yet. The walkthrough in our Subnautica story walkthrough guide shows the exact order of events.
What's Worth Looting in the Aurora
The Aurora is one of the best loot zones in the game, and most of it is behind those codes. Room by room:
| Area | Code / access | Notable loot |
|---|---|---|
| Administration Office | Free (first room) | "Notes to Self" PDA (code 1454), spare batteries on the shelf |
| Cargo Bay | 1454 | Cyclops Engine Fragments (rare, in crates), Cargo Crates, Propulsion Cannon fragment, the unextinguishable fire (jump over) |
| Prawn Bay | Free | Prawn Suit fragments, a tunnel down to the lab area |
| Laboratory | Free (sealed doors need Laser Cutter) | "Aurora Black Box Data" terminal, Battery in front of a sealed door |
| Lab storage room | 6483 | 3 Large Sample Flasks, Disinfected Water, Repulsion Cannon blueprint terminal |
| Locker Room | Laser Cutter | "Sweet Offer" PDA (code 1869), batteries, first-aid kits |
| Living Quarters | Free | Canteen, vending machine, PDAs; Cabin 1 behind 1869; Cabin 3 has a Prawn Suit poster |
| Drive Room | Free | Repair the drive core here; the Engine Efficiency Module blueprint is also nearby (see our Cyclops guide) |
| Seamoth Bay | Free | Up to two Seamoth fragments |
Several corridors in the living quarters and cargo bay are blocked by fires. Put out the ones you can with the extinguisher; the big cargo-bay blaze cannot be extinguished — sprint and jump across the crates instead. Fire damage stacks fast in the cramped interior.
How to Stop the Aurora Radiation
The radiation zone around the crash site persists until you repair the ship's drive core:
- Suit up in the full Radiation Suit set.
- Enter through the bow breach and work your way to the Drive Room (follow the collapsed hallways; you'll need to cut sealed doors along the way).
- Equip the Repair Tool and repair the drive core — it takes several repair cycles and the panel keeps breaking, so hold the button through all of it.
- The radiation dissipates shortly after. You still can't safely loiter around the ship's engine without the suit until it fully clears, but the whole Crash Zone becomes far friendlier once the zone is gone.
Fixing the drive core is also the trigger that opens up later story content — the radio chatter from Alterra changes, and the path to the Sunbeam rescue attempt proceeds.
Aurora Code Mistakes That Cost You a Run
- Forgetting the Laser Cutter battery. Each sealed door costs 17% of a battery. A fresh battery cuts five doors and nearly a sixth — plan the route so you don't run dry inside with a locked door ahead.
- Swimming around the stern. The Reapers patrolling the engine area will shred a Seamoth. The bow breach is the intended entrance.
- Dying inside with loot. The interior is cramped, dark and full of Cave Crawlers. Don't loot a room and then backtrack through a fire — do a full loop, save your game before boarding, and leave with a clear path out.
- Skipping the lab. The Repulsion Cannon (code 6483's terminal) is one of the best tools in the game for clearing debris and moving loose items — and it's free once you're in the storage room.
FAQ
What are all the Aurora codes in Subnautica?
1454 (cargo bay), 1869 (Cabin 1), 2679 (captain's quarters) and 6483 (lab/storage room). The first three codes are found on PDAs inside the ship; 2679 is transmitted to your radio later in the story.
Where do I find the captain's quarters code?
There is no PDA for it — Alterra HQ radios code 2679 to you as part of the main story, after the Sunbeam event. The captain's quarters holds the Neptune Escape Rocket blueprints, so it's the last room you'll unlock on the ship.
What do you need to board the Aurora?
After the drive core explodes: the full Radiation Suit, a Repair Tool (for the drive core and damaged wiring), a Laser Cutter with spare batteries, and a Propulsion Cannon or Repulsion Cannon for the cargo bay blockage. A Stasis Rifle and fire extinguisher make the interior much safer.
How do I stop the radiation from the Aurora?
Repair the drive core in the Drive Room with the Repair Tool while wearing the Radiation Suit. The repair takes several cycles; when it's done the radiation zone dissipates.
What is in the Aurora cargo bay?
Loot crates, a Propulsion Cannon fragment, and — rarely — up to three Cyclops Engine Fragments inside the large crates, which is why Crag Field farming (see our Cyclops fragments guide) is the safer alternative.
