Halo Campaign Evolved Skull Locations — Assault on the Control Room, 343 Guilty Spark, The Library, Two Betrayals

Missions 5-8 of Halo: Campaign Evolved hide another 12 skulls, and this is where the collection starts getting interesting: the famous IWHBYD dialogue skull, the morally dubious That's Just... Wrong, the Banshee-piloting Tough Luck, and the multi-room Mythic.

Official source: Achievement List — Halo Waypoint — per-mission skull and terminal achievements confirm three collectibles per level.

Missions 1-4 are on the skulls-1 page, missions 9-13 plus the prequel on the skulls-3 page.

Assault on the Control Room (3 Skulls)

IWHBYD — the Scorpion tank ice jump

Effect: Rare dialogue lines play much more often ("I Would Have Been Your Daddy"). Where: in the Scorpion section, cross the narrow bridge over the chasm, then turn left and drive the tank to the snowbank at the end of the platform. You'll see a tall narrow gap in the ice wall. Park the Scorpion with its turret close to the gap, get out, climb onto the tank, and sprint-jump from the turret into the divet where the skull waits.

You need the Scorpion

If you skip the tank, you cannot reach IWHBYD — there's no other jump point. On replays, take the Scorpion through the bridge section specifically for this skull.

Angry — the three arches

Effect: Enemies fire faster and more frequently. Where: after leaving the Scorpion and heading for the Control Center Ziggurat, you cross a snowy clearing with three metallic arches to the left of the door you need. The skull is on top of the furthest arch (closest to the canyon wall). (Rally Point Charlie.)

Cowbell — under the Banshee bridge

Effect: Object physics mass reduced; things fly further. Where: at the bridge where Cortana tells you to commandeer a Banshee, look off the right side of the bridge and carefully drop onto the narrow slanted strut below. The skull is tucked underneath the bridge on a rock. (Rally Point Echo.)

343 Guilty Spark (3 Skulls)

Fog — the forest rock bank

Effect: Motion tracker disabled. Where: early in the level, after passing the crashed Covenant dropship in the tree, go up the slope to the left of the ship, then jump onto the rocks to the right just past the large tree. The skull is on a dirt mound. (Rally Point Alpha.)

That's Just... Wrong — the insane marine

Effect: Enemies have increased awareness of you. Where: inside the Forerunner facility, in the section with dead Covenant and blood everywhere, you meet a terrified marine who fires at you while screaming on the ground. You must kill him. He drops the skull. (Rally Point Bravo.)

Yes, you have to kill him

The game doesn't prompt this — it's the skull's whole dark joke. There is no alternative trigger and no way to get the skull without killing the marine. It doesn't affect any other achievement, but it is required for Collector's Addition.

They Come Back — the fallen tree in the dark forest

Effect: Flood combat forms reanimated by infection forms are more dangerous. Where: at the end of the level, escort the marines to the evac point. When you see the large metal structure with Sentinel drones fighting the Flood, don't approach it — go right, past it into the darkened forest. You'll find a long collapsed tree; jump onto the rock at its base, walk across the log, and grab the skull on the higher rocky ledge. (Rally Point Charlie.)

The Library (3 Skulls)

Tilt — the service tunnel exit

Effect: Positive and negative damage multipliers enhanced (plasma shreds shields more, but does even less to health). Where: early on, after emerging from the Flood-infested lower tunnel (Guilty Spark remarks you survived as Sentinels arrive), turn right and climb the slope at the top of the steps. (Rally Point Alpha.)

Pop — the pillar ledge

Effect: Shooting Flood weak points makes them explode. Where: after the first elevator ride, follow either path to the door Guilty Spark must unlock. Turn 180 degrees from the door and you'll see the skull on a narrow ledge against the inner wall. Climb the metal slope, sprint-jump onto the egg-shaped structures, then across to the ledge. (Rally Point Bravo.)

Famine — the final floor alcove

Effect: Enemy-dropped weapons contain half ammo. Where: after the final elevator down to the last chamber, head straight out and down the ramp into the Flood-infested lower section, then immediately turn left. The skull sits on the floor in a small alcove. (Rally Point Charlie.)

Two Betrayals (3 Skulls)

Tough Luck — the Banshee spire

Effect: Enemies always berserk, dive constantly, rarely flee. Where: right after exiting the facility, commandeer a Banshee as prompted — but instead of flying to the objective, fly up to the top of the spire sticking out of the control room, just in front of the blue beam. Carefully exit the Banshee mid-air near the spire top and grab the skull. Be prepared to reload: getting down safely is awkward.

Watch your Banshee

You can easily strand yourself on the spire. Land the Banshee as close as possible or be ready to reload the checkpoint after grabbing Tough Luck.

Black Eye — the Flood dead end

Effect: Shields only recharge by meleeing enemies. Where: after the elevator ride down toward the second pulse generator, you reach the valley with three metallic arches (the same area as Angry, now Flood-infested). Cross the middle arch and bear right into the small dead end of Flood biomass. The skull rests on a small snow pile. (Rally Point Charlie.)

Mythic — the console-door gauntlet

Effect: Enemies have increased health. Where: fly the Banshee up to the second generator area and land on the central platform. Activate the console to unlock a door, then fly to the opposite landing pad (not the objective pad). Enter the door and fight through three linear rooms — Elites and Fuel Rod Grunts, then shielded Flood Elites, then Flood Hunters (Flood Tank variants) — clearing every enemy to unlock the next door. The skull spawns in the center pedestal of the final room once everything is dead.

This is the hardest skull to reach in this set

Mythic is a full combat gauntlet, not a ledge grab. On Heroic+ it's genuinely tough — clear the rooms with a shotgun or Sentinel Beam, and don't rush. If you're struggling, revisit through Chapter Select with better weapons or a co-op partner (see the co-op guide).

Collectible Route Tip

Missions 5-8 also contain the terminals Tangent I, Tangent II, Tangent III and Alone — grab them with the skulls to clear each mission's 20G achievement. Terminal routes are in the terminals guide. If you're doing a full collection run, the achievements guide has the optimal order, and the walkthrough covers each mission's combat flow.

Acrophobia shortcuts

With Acrophobia active, Fog, They Come Back, Pop and several platforming grabs become much easier — fly up instead of pixel-jumping.

FAQ

Where is the IWHBYD skull in Halo: Campaign Evolved? Assault on the Control Room, in an ice crevice right after the Scorpion bridge crossing. Park the tank by the snowbank, climb onto the turret, and jump into the gap.

How do you get the That's Just... Wrong skull? In 343 Guilty Spark, kill the insane screaming marine in the Forerunner facility — he drops the skull. There is no other way.

Where is the Mythic skull? Two Betrayals, behind a console-locked door in the second generator area. Fly the Banshee to the central platform, unlock the door, then fight through three rooms of enemies; the skull spawns when the last room is cleared.

How do you get the Tough Luck skull? In Two Betrayals, fly the Banshee to the top of the control-room spire and grab the skull near the blue beam, then reload your checkpoint to get down.

What does the Pop skull do? Shooting Flood in their weak points makes them explode — it's in The Library on the pillar ledge opposite the locked door Guilty Spark opens.
