All 13 Halo: Campaign Evolved terminals, one per mission: exact locations for every terminal, what the lore logs reveal, and the achievements they unlock.

Halo Campaign Evolved Terminals — All 13 Locations and What They Reveal

Halo: Campaign Evolved hides 13 terminals — exactly one per mission, including the three Operation: METEORITE prequel missions. They are glowing consoles with a red light (green once activated), usually sitting just off the main path. Interact with one and it registers a text lore log (Halo 3-style transcripts rather than animated videos) that you can read any time from the main menu's Collectibles section.

Terminals don't make noise like skulls do, so they're easy to miss — but they're also never missable: every mission can be replayed through Chapter Select, and each terminal's mission achievement pops the moment you grab it.

The Pillar of Autumn — Approach

Play until you reach the viewing window above the cryo room where you awoke. Go through the door and immediately turn left into the small control room with red lights and screens — the terminal is at the far end. Its log opens the story of the Autumn's final flight.

Halo — Forgotten

After saving the Marines and grabbing the Warthog, enter the underground tunnel. About halfway through, stop at the window on the right, hop out of the Warthog, turn on your flashlight, jump through the window, and drop to the ledge below. The terminal waits there.

The Truth and Reconciliation — Inquisitor

Near the end of the mission, when you're rescuing Captain Keyes from his prison cell, ignore the main objective and take the door to your immediate right in the lobby area. In the prison block, activate the device to open all cells — one of them contains the terminal. Do this before saving Keyes; the mission ends after the rescue.

The Silent Cartographer — Status Update

On the way to disable the security override system, ignore the objective panel itself and keep running to the end of the walkway. The terminal is behind the half-wall on your right.

Assault on the Control Room — Tangent I

After the Scorpion section, at the top of the ramp with the Covenant dropship, Ghosts and Shade turrets, go left into the center structure (not required for the mission). Find the staircase to the balcony — the terminal is up there. It documents 343 Guilty Spark's records of his time on Alpha Halo.

343 Guilty Spark — Tangent II

When your objective becomes "escape," return to one of the first indoor rooms, now with a light bridge across to a previously locked door. As you come around the corner (past the unfortunate marines), hook around the wall to find the terminal on the other side.

The Library — Tangent III

Near the Pop skull location, when Guilty Spark is opening the door, the objective points right — instead go left, shoot the Flood sack to open the path, crouch through, and find the terminal around the corner on the right.

Two Betrayals — Alone

Immediately when you spawn at the start of the mission, turn around and run behind yourself. The terminal is right there — the easiest one in the game.

Keyes — Consumed

In the large docking bay (familiar from Truth and Reconciliation), instead of ascending to the upper deck, go through the door on the left from where you entered. Follow the ramp down, fight the Hunters and enemies, and halfway down the ramp on the right you'll find a small path to the terminal.

The Maw — Arrival

Near the start of the mission, working through the Pillar of Autumn, enter room B03L — the mess hall. The terminal is on the right-hand side of the room.

Boarding Action — The Path (METEORITE)

Immediately after riding the gravity lift Johnson activates (right after the Leadhead skull room), turn around when you land and look over your left shoulder — the door and terminal are right there.

The Most Dangerous Game — Penitent Report (METEORITE)

After the prison section, you pass a doorway with windows on your left. Instead of following the mission marker, go through the door on the right — the terminal sits on a pedestal in the room. Its log covers the Minister of Harmony's experiments.

Heavy Burden — Harmonious Clarity (METEORITE)

Early in Rally Point Bravo, after the cutscene with Johnson in the room with the giant hologram sphere, run across the room and through the doors into the armory (weapons, invisibilities). The terminal is hidden around the left corner at the very back of the armory. This is your final terminal.

What the Terminals Reveal

The 13 logs add a narrative layer the original 2001 game never had. Unlike the skulls (gameplay modifiers), terminals are pure lore — and the writing team used them to expand the story around the edges:

  • Forerunner perspective — the Tangent logs give 343 Guilty Spark's own account of the ring, his attempts to reach 2401 Penitent Tangent, and the Flood outbreak from the monitor's point of view.
  • ONI and the Covenant — Approach and Inquisitor add UNSC/Covenant context to the Autumn's flight and the boarding action.
  • The METEORITE arc — The Path, Penitent Report and Harmonious Clarity fill in Operation: METEORITE, the Minister of Harmony's genetic experiments aboard the Triumph of Tolerance, and the stakes of the prequel (covered in the Operation METEORITE guide).
  • Post-war politics — some logs touch on reconstruction and how the galaxy reads the events of Installation 04, giving the remake's terminal set a distinct flavor from Halo 3's.
Text logs, not videos

Terminal entries are transcripts in the Halo 3 style — readable at your own pace from the Collectibles menu. Don't expect cinematics.

Terminal & Skull Collecting Route

The cleanest way to clear the collectible layer is one pass per mission: replay each mission through Chapter Select, pick its three skulls (routes on the skulls pages) and its terminal in the same run. Each mission's combined grab pops its 20G achievement (Clean Sweep, Successful Search, Plundered, and so on), and 13 terminals alone pop Lore Have Mercy (10G). All 13 terminals plus all 39 skulls pops the gold Collector's Addition (50G) — the largest single achievement in the game outside LASO.

Recommended order: follow the campaign normally, grabbing skulls and terminals as you go; then mop up via Chapter Select using each mission's earliest Rally Point for the missables. The full route order and achievement checklist are in the achievements guide.

Terminals are never missable

No terminal is locked out by mission progression. If you finish a mission and realize you skipped its terminal, Chapter Select (nearest Rally Point) is all you need — every terminal is reachable from a rally point close to its location.

Where are the terminals in Halo: Campaign Evolved? One in every mission, usually just off the main path: Approach (Pillar of Autumn), Forgotten (Halo), Inquisitor (T&R), Status Update (Silent Cartographer), Tangent I-III (AotCR/343GS/Library), Alone (Two Betrayals), Consumed (Keyes), Arrival (The Maw), The Path (Boarding Action), Penitent Report (Most Dangerous Game), Harmonious Clarity (Heavy Burden).

What do terminals do in Halo: Campaign Evolved? They unlock lore transcripts readable from the Collectibles menu — Forerunner logs, ONI/Covenant context, and the Operation: METEORITE backstory. They also count toward Lore Have Mercy and Collector's Addition.

How do you get the Lore Have Mercy achievement? Activate all 13 terminals. It's a 10G/10-point bronze achievement and a prerequisite for the 50G gold Collector's Addition (all skulls + terminals).

Do terminals make a sound like skulls? No — terminals are silent. You have to spot them or use a location guide; they glow red (green after activation) and are small control consoles.
