Is DragonSword Awakening on PS5? Console Port Status & Release Window

DragonSword: Awakening launched as a Steam (PC) exclusive on July 22, 2026 — but on July 30, Hound13 officially confirmed that PlayStation and Nintendo versions are in development. No release date, no target console generations, and no Xbox announcement. Here's the full picture of where the console ports stand.

Here's what you'll learn:

  • The official PS5/Switch confirmation and its timing
  • Why there's no release window yet
  • The Xbox situation (unconfirmed)
  • What a console version would likely look like

The Official Confirmation (July 30, 2026)

A week after launch — riding the momentum of 200,000+ copies sold in the first week — Hound13 announced that PlayStation and Nintendo versions are in development. Coverage is consistent across PlayStation LifeStyle, Push Square, and Enduins: the announcement confirms console ports exist, and that's it. Specific console generations (PS5 vs. potential PS6 timing, Switch vs. Switch 2) and launch windows are still being finalized.

"PS5" is the working assumption, not a confirmed label

The announcement says "PlayStation" and "Nintendo" hardware — outlets have framed the PS5 listing (Push Square maintains a PS5 page marked "Status: Announced"), but Hound13 hasn't locked a specific generation. Treat "PS5 version" as the most likely reading, not an official one.

Why There's No Release Window

Hound13's producer explained the PC-first strategy in the official developer livestreams: the team prioritized delivering the best possible PC experience before allocating resources to console development. Launching simultaneously on multiple platforms requires certification, optimization, and support load that an independent studio (still in a legal dispute with former publisher Webzen — see the guide) couldn't absorb. A 2026 console release was never in the plan; community estimates range into 2027, but that's speculation, not news.

The Xbox Situation

Xbox has not been announced. Some community coverage and one secondary source claimed Xbox Series X|S was part of the roadmap, but the official announcement names only PlayStation and Nintendo. Until Hound13 says otherwise, treat Xbox as unconfirmed — we'll update this page when that changes.

What a Console Version Would Look Like

Signals from the PC version suggest the groundwork is there:

  • Controller support is already excellent — the interface was designed with gamepads in mind, and the demo-era feedback push added lock-on and controller refinements.
  • The game runs UE5 with FSR/TSR upscaling — the same tech stack that scales onto consoles, and the Steam Deck performance work shows the engine scales well on constrained hardware.
  • Crossplay/save questions are entirely open — no cross-save or crossplay announcements exist for the ports.
