How Long is hololive Dreams — Hours to Beat and Complete

hololive Dreams (holodori) is a live-service rhythm RPG, so "how long" has three different answers: how long to clear the current main story, how long to clear main-plus-side content, and how long to 100% a game that's still adding content monthly. The only independent data comes from HowLongToBeat, and it's thin — a handful of submissions for a three-week-old gacha. This guide works through the numbers, what they do and don't mean, and the honest projection for completionists. The story structure itself is covered in the walkthrough guide.

The Numbers (HLTB, Small Sample)

Per HowLongToBeat (game ID 189067), current submissions:

  • Main story only: ~22.5 hours
  • Main + side content: ~57.5 hours
  • 100% completionist: no submissions yet

⚠️ Sample-size warning: both figures come from a single-digit number of player submissions. Treat them as directional, not gospel. In a game where one chapter's final episode demands ~500k team power (see below), "main story" time varies enormously with how fast you grind versus how fast you play.

Official source: HowLongToBeat lists 22.5 hours for the main story and 57.5 hours for main + side content — the small sample size is flagged in the text above.

What's Actually in That Time

The story structure (from NamuWiki's main quest table and the ResetEra OT thread):

  • Chapter 1 = 24 episodes — the Harmony Garden story; unlocks multiplayer (Ep. 4), Daily Quests (Ep. 5), achievements/Board (Ep. 6), theaters, shops, and mini-games along the way
  • Chapter 2 = at least 12 episodes — the Mega Sphere story; Episode 12 is the current known wall, requiring a team with roughly 500k power to even start the song (per ResetEra: a full level-40 5-star team doesn't reach it without uncaps and Board investment)
  • Side content — area quests, holomem quests (54 members × quest chains), mini-game achievements, the score-rate rankings, event stories, and Create Chart community content

The 22.5-hour "main story" figure reads like a play-the-songs-and-skip-dialogue run through Chapter 1. The 57.5-hour figure matches a normal playthrough that touches holomem quests and daily content. Both will age upward as more chapters ship.

The Completionist Problem

100% completion in holodori is a moving target for structural reasons:

  1. The 500k power wall. Chapter 2 Episode 12 currently gates story progress behind weeks of uncapping and Board grinding — completion requires time-gated materials, not just skill.
  2. Score-rate titles. Per-member ranking titles (DIA/Gold/Silver/Bronze) require top placement on per-member leaderboards — theoretically 54 diamond titles, practically impossible (per NamuWiki).
  3. PC players can't. Steam is excluded from score-rate rankings and some event leaderboards, so a chunk of achievements is currently unreachable on PC (documented in the review guide).
  4. Hidden achievements. Many are interaction-based (sit on a bench, knock three times, eat toast) — the achievements guide has the full list.
  5. Live-service inflation. Every event adds songs, story, and sometimes areas (the roadmap promises "a new area every few months" per Wikipedia). A 100% save is never done.

Daily Commitment

The honest daily check-in for a mid-game account: 20–40 minutes — two holomem quests, the daily mini-game rotation, daily/weekly missions, one Live Boost run. That's the daily routine in the tips guide, and it's sustainable for free players because the game's stamina (Live Boosts/mini-game boosts) regenerates rather than hard-gating.

"Beat" is the wrong frame

holodori has no ending credit roll in the traditional sense — Chapter 1 Episode 24 completes the first story arc, but the game is designed as an ongoing service. The right question isn't "when does it end" but "how long until I'm caught up": roughly 20–25 hours to clear current story, 55–60 for a thorough playthrough.

How Long Per Chapter?

Community consensus from the OT thread and walkthrough sites: chapters take 4–6 hours of active play each with the current content running about two chapters — consistent with the HLTB main-story figure. Episode pacing is uneven: story episodes are quick (dialogue + one song), while the coin-grind episodes (Mega Circuit progression) can eat entire sessions.

FAQ

How many hours is hololive Dreams? Per HowLongToBeat: ~22.5 hours for the main story, ~57.5 hours for main + side content. Sample sizes are small — treat as directional.

How long does it take to beat? "Beating" the current story (through Chapter 2's content) is roughly 20–25 hours of active play; a thorough playthrough touching holomem quests and events runs 55–60 hours. The game keeps growing.

Is hololive Dreams a long game? As a live-service game, yes by design — completionist 100% is a multi-week project gated by the ~500k power wall and per-member leaderboard titles, and every event adds more.

How long is the main story? Chapter 1 alone has 24 episodes; Chapter 2 has at least 12. The current story arc is ~20–25 hours, with the final Chapter 2 episode demanding a high-power team.
