Quasimorph 1.0 Update: Full Release Notes, New Content & Changes

Quasimorph left Early Access on July 31, 2026 — after nearly three years of EA (October 2023) — with the biggest patch in its history. Version 1.0 isn't a content pack bolted onto the EA game; it's the final shape of the whole loop: five storylines, nine endings, 142 pacts, 82 achievements, a reworked trade system, a mod manager, and a sweeping balance pass. Here's everything the full release actually changed, straight from the official patch notes.

1.0 Release Facts

  • Release date: July 31, 2026. Early Access ran from October 2, 2023.
  • Developer / publisher: Magnum Scriptum / HypeTrain Digital.
  • Launch price: $24.99, with a 33% launch discount ($16.74) for the first two weeks.
  • Save compatibility: saves from the default EA branch are not compatible with 1.0 — you start a new game. Saves from the Unstable Beta are compatible. (Official: "if you haven't played the beta, you'll need to start a new game.")
  • Supporter Pack: soundtrack, a unique HIS Magnum skin, older builds with unique stories, and artwork — purchasable with a discount through a bundle.

Per the official 1.0 release announcement: "Quasimorph has officially left Early Access and launched in version 1.0. For the next two weeks, the game will be available at a 33% discount."

Two weeks to save a third

The 33% launch discount (down to $16.74) ran for the first two weeks after July 31. If you're reading this after that window, watch for HypeTrain Digital sales and the Quasimorph bundles (Stoneshard, Cargo Hunters, Intravenous 2 × Pathologic 3) for better-than-base prices.

What 1.0 Added: The New Systems

The headline additions from the official patch notes:

  • Steam Achievements — 82 of them, and using console commands now invalidates saves for achievements (see the achievements guide for the full list).
  • Map Editor — create custom map packs.
  • In-game Mod Manager — set mod load order, enable/disable mods, and detect map-pack collisions (the game no longer breaks with 50+ mods).
  • Magnum Pact Department — exchange low-tier pacts for high-tier ones, with a chance at pacts that don't drop from Barons. (The pacts guide has the full pact economy.)
  • Trade Shuttle rework — the shuttle now sells any item (non-required items at a reduced price), with three trading modes: typed barter, sell-for-reputation, and cargo transport from proxy stations. Detailed in the economy guide.
  • RealWare storyline with 2 endings; AnCom storyline with 2 endings — completing the nine-ending set covered in the campaign walkthrough.
  • New content: 29 new guns, 2 new composite damage types, 2 deployable covers, 4 gas grenades, 10 Olirna pacts, reworked Tezctlan and Xiomara quest pacts — 142 pacts total, 70 of which only come from rites.
  • Updated fire and liquid mechanics, added gases — "Try setting fire to puddles of poison - it'll be fun."
  • Thrown weapons separated from grenades — their own item type, gain melee bonuses, and can break when thrown (knives, saws, nails, bottles).
  • Loaded batteries now affect weapon stats — damage type is set by the weapon itself.
  • Frozen enemies break into ice shards on death (feeding the "Hasta la vista, Baby" achievement).
  • Quasimorphic Data can reduce accumulated bane level.
  • Locked doors can now be unlocked with an Employee ID.

The 1.0 Balance Pass

The balance changes reshape the whole progression curve:

  • Weapon stats revised: flamethrower damage up in the attack zone; accuracy slightly decreased on average; critical damage slightly decreased overall (some weapons up); light weapons lighter; maximum condition up; prices mostly down; damage falloff slightly reduced.
  • Upgrade economy overhauled: clone upgrades are now chip-limited (no chips needed for early levels), and level 100 upgrades need 450 items instead of 3,000. Weapon/armor upgrades: more availability, lower max cost, more distinct item types, per-level stats adjusted. Different armor pieces now have different upgrade steps (helmet < chest).
  • Total full-spacecraft upgrade cost +20%, weighted to late-game nodes — see the Magnum upgrades guide for what that means for early spending.
  • Difficulty presets re-tuned: faction growth 80% → 60% on Easy, 120% → 150% on Unfair. Skull display logic reworked in 1.0.1 so difficulty is relative, not absolute.
  • Wounds, addictions, and statuses updated: composite damage types got their own effects; robots no longer take per-turn wound damage but suffer bigger penalties; medicine rebalanced (bandages stabilize more, first-aid kits slightly weaker, pills last longer).
  • Descent missions: new tech-level progression (floor 1 = TL4, floor 4 = TL8, floor 7 = TL9, floor 10+ = TL10) and fewer enemies.
  • Quasimorphs won't immediately hunt the clone in bramfatura Descent missions.
  • Phase Bomb recipe now awarded across multiple storylines (Xiomara, RealWare pre-fork, both AnCom branches, Tezctlan) — key for the Unchained Belt content.
  • Dismantle chance 50% → 33%, but new recipes let you obtain Judge ABC and PV-277 from minigun/laser-turret disassembly.

Per the official 1.0 patch notes: "Updated weapon stats... light weapons have been made lighter; maximum condition has been increased; weapon prices have been adjusted, mostly decreased, but increased for a few particularly powerful ones; damage falloff has been slightly reduced on average."

Quality of Life and Controls

  • Allies now step aside when you move into their tile (keyboard/controller/mouse).
  • Camera pan hotkey; click any upgrade to see its recipe; sorting rules configurable in the Cryochamber and Dismantler.
  • Wound names now include the damage type that caused them.
  • In-mission lighting changes and window animations (toggleable, enabled by default).
  • New hold-delay multiplier for inputs; inventory tab hotkeys; alternative action to close and block doors; controller throw via firing mode.
  • Localization overhaul for English, German, Spanish, Japanese, and Chinese.

The Post-Launch Hotfix Timeline

  • 1.0.561 (Aug 2026): FPS limit default 120; Stonecrusher is now Power Armor (recipes adjusted); weapon trait component fixes.
  • 1.0.562 (Aug 2026): fixed V-Sync not limiting FPS in windowed modes; Robbery target items spawning with partial uses; Gibil's Blackfire pact expiry; RealWare "Reap the Whirlwind" softlocks; Jupiter/Europa portraits.
  • 1.0.1 (Aug 2026): reworked mission and station tooltips; new skull-display logic; difficulty presentation overhaul; broader QoL — the developer's response to launch feedback.
  • 1.0.2 (Aug 2026): inventory sorting everywhere, AI improvements, cryochamber sorting filters, perishable-only transfer, story fixes, and "a large batch of bug fixes."

The developer's post-1.0 communication has been unusually responsive — the review guide covers how players are receiving this cadence. For the full 1.0 picture plus the ending routing and storylines, see the campaign walkthrough.
