IRON NEST Achievements & Medals Guide — 33 Steam Achievements + Every Gold Medal

IRON NEST tracks progression in two separate systems: 33 Steam achievements (platform trophies shown on your profile) and the in-game medal system (Bronze/Silver/Gold per mission, with 100+ medals unlockable overall). This guide explains both, including the exact gold-medal requirements for every campaign mission.

Here's what you'll learn:

  • The 33 Steam achievements — and what they're tied to
  • How the in-game medal system works (Bronze/Silver/Gold per mission)
  • Every mission's gold medal requirement, mission by mission
  • Tips for hitting the strict gold conditions

Two Systems, Confused All the Time

IRON NEST players constantly mix these up, so here's the split:

Steam Achievements In-Game Medals
Where Steam platform (profile, notifications) In-game record (per mission)
Count 33 (per the Steam store page) 100+ unlockable medals
Trigger Milestones (missions, endings, unlocks) Bronze/Silver/Gold score per mission
Shows up Steam overlay, friends feed Your in-game records

The store page lists 33 Steam Achievements (click "View Steam Achievements" on the Steam page). The 100+ figure from the official site refers to the in-game medal/record system, which tracks far more granular per-mission performance.

How the Medal System Works

Every mission in IRON NEST tracks Bronze, Silver, and Gold medals — but the game never tells you the exact numbers. Each mission attaches one or more tasks to its medal:

  • A limit you stay under — e.g. shots fired, requisition spent, allies killed
  • A floor you climb above — e.g. enemies killed, consecutive kill shots, kills without recon, counter-battery time left, triple-kill time windows
  • Gold requires the hardest value on every task of that mission, all in the same run.
Plan around the tightest constraint

When a mission lists multiple tasks, you must satisfy all of them simultaneously — so the run should be planned around the hardest condition, not just the flashiest one. A mission where you must spend ≤30 requisition and kill 9+ enemies forces a different loadout than either condition alone.

Every Gold Medal Requirement

Thresholds below are the exact Gold targets per mission (community-compiled, cross-checked against in-game records):

Mission Gold tasks
Calibration Fire Shots fired ≤ 1
Fire & Light Shots fired ≤ 4
Liberation Allies killed = 0 · avg accuracy ≤ 0.3 · 6+ consecutive kill shots · requisition ≤ 30
Counter-Battery Triple-kill window ≥ 10s · counter-battery time left ≥ 260 · requisition ≤ 30 · 9+ enemies killed
Iron Road Allies killed = 0 · 20+ consecutive kill shots · kills/shot ratio ≥ 2 (min 10 enemies) · 15 kills without recon
Siege of Cartagena Allies killed = 0 · 15+ enemies killed · 15 kills without recon · requisition ≤ 50
The Gorge Allies killed = 0 · 10+ consecutive kill shots · 30+ enemies killed · kills/shot ratio ≥ 2 (min 10 enemies)
Rock of Gibraltar Allies killed = 0 · 2+ enemies killed · 15 kills without recon · requisition ≤ 10
Dead Reckoning Allies killed = 0 · 6+ consecutive kill shots · 15+ enemies killed · requisition ≤ 30
Fire on Call Requisition spent = 0 · 30+ enemies killed · kills/shot ratio ≥ 2 · 15 kills without recon
High Tide 6+ consecutive kill shots · triple-kill window ≥ 10s · avg accuracy ≤ 0.3 · counter-battery time left ≥ 6
Blind Fire Requisition ≤ 50 · 6+ consecutive kill shots · 20+ enemies killed · 15 kills without recon
Phantom Battery (see our missions guide for the Phantom Battery specifics)
Gold on later missions requires near-perfect play

Missions like Iron Road (20+ consecutive kills, 2.0+ kills/shot, 15 no-recon kills in one run) are where Gold becomes a real challenge. This is where the IronNestFCS automation mod genuinely helps — or where you embrace the grind.

Tips for Hitting Gold

  1. Know the recon rules. "Kills without recon" means engaging targets you spotted yourself (map plot + fire) rather than ones already marked — master the triangulation loop first.
  2. Watch requisition as a resource. Many golds cap requisition spend (≤10 on Gibraltar!). Don't buy luxury shells before a gold run.
  3. Don't waste shots. Shots-fired caps (≤1 on Calibration Fire!) punish spray-and-pray. Measure twice, fire once.
  4. Multi-task during rotation. The turret swings slowly — use that time to prep the next plot instead of standing idle.
  5. Use the chill modes to practice without pressure, then chase gold in the real mission.

Do Achievements Unlock Anything?

No gameplay unlocks come from achievements or medals — they're record-keeping (plus the end-game credits honor for operators who supported the Discord, per the developers' launch messages). Medals feed your in-game records and are for bragging rights and completionists; 100% runs are the endgame for medal hunters.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many achievements does IRON NEST have?

33 Steam achievements (per the Steam store page).

What are medals in IRON NEST?

In-game Bronze/Silver/Gold scores per mission, with 100+ medals unlockable. They track performance tasks (shots, kills, requisition, accuracy) rather than story milestones.

How do I get gold medals in IRON NEST?

Meet the hardest value on every task of a mission in a single run — e.g. Iron Road gold needs 20+ consecutive kills, 2.0+ kills/shot, and 15 no-recon kills simultaneously.

Are IRON NEST achievements hard?

Steam achievements are milestone-based (missions/endings/unlocks) — approachable. In-game gold medals are the real challenge, with multi-condition runs on later missions.

Do achievements unlock anything in IRON NEST?

No gameplay unlocks — achievements and medals are records/bragging rights for completionists.
