SpiritVale Stats Guide — Every Attribute, Formula and Build Template

SpiritVale uses the classic Ragnarok Online stat sheet: six attributes that you raise with points earned per base level, with the same cost curve, the same formulas family, and even the same stat names. Understanding the six attributes — and the two cost rules that surprise everyone — is the difference between a smooth build and a bricked one.

Quick facts: you get attribute points as you level (all characters start at base level 1 with 27 points auto-distributed); points cost 1 per attribute up to 50, then 2 per point, with 98→99 costing 3; any single attribute caps at 99 base points (items, cards and buffs can push beyond); and you can reset everything at the Waybinder NPC.

The Six Attributes

Stat What it does Favored by
STR Physical attack power Melee classes (Warrior, Knight, Rogue)
VIT Max HP and defense Everyone — survival stat
AGI Attack speed and evasion Melee DPS, farming builds
DEX Hit, cast speed, some attack scaling Casters and the Scout/Gunslinger line
INT Magic attack Mages, Summoner, Acolyte damage
LUK Crit, curse resist and luck effects Crit builds; also useful vs. curse-heavy zones

Community-compiled details: VIT "increases HP and defense… always worth picking up with leftover points"; DEX "gives you hit and cast speed — favored by casters and scout because it also augments attack"; LUK feeds the crit formula (CriticalDamage = base + LUK/5 + CritDamage) and resist checks.

The Two Cost Rules That Trip Everyone Up

  1. 50-point breakpoint. Each point costs 1 up to 50, then 2 points per point past 50. Getting all base stats to 50 first is cheaper than pushing one stat deep — several community builds deliberately raise every stat to 50 before specializing.
  2. 99 base cap. You can only assign 99 points in any single attribute — further increases must come from items, cards, buffs and other gear effects. (A common Steam forum question, answered by players: "aside from item-based ones, you can only assign 99 points at max to any stat.")

Formulas That Matter

The wiki's mechanics page documents the combat math:

  • Hit chance: HitChance = clamp(Hit − Flee + 100, 5, 100) — clamped between 5% and 100%; you can never go below 5% or above 100%.
  • Resist cap: total resist (element + all resist) is capped at 75% — no immunity stacking.
  • Damage pipeline: element multiplier → resists (capped) → crit (base + LUK/5 + CritDamage) → subtract Def/MDef → Hit vs. Flee → round.
  • Healing follows the same path with a negative value, and the curse status flips it: healing becomes damage (×−2), which is exactly why LUK's curse resist matters in curse-heavy zones like Sanctum of Light.

Stat Build Templates by Class Family

Community-verified templates (from the builds guide and YouTube class guides):

  • Melee farming (Warrior/Rogue line): 50 STR → 50 AGI → 50 LUK → then all remaining into STR. "50 strength, 50 agility, 50 luck, then back to strength" is the most-repeated melee pattern.
  • Caster (Mage/Acolyte/Summoner): INT first with VIT mixed in ("first int, then vit, then dex, then back to int" is a common opening), using the 50-point rule to keep costs low.
  • Gunslinger (crit-ranged): community guides allocate ~50 LUK, 50 AGI (or DEX) and 50 DEX, then distribute the remainder between AGI and DEX — with crit artifact sets (Storm Quaver, Fury Brand) and cards amplifying LUK.
  • Priest (support): VIT for survival plus DEX/INT for cast speed and heals; 50 LUK was used by one player for curse immunity in Sanctum of Light (LUK resist + a resist card = curse immune).
Respect the 50s

Because points cost double past 50, "all in one stat" is a trap for most builds. A spread of 50s (STR 50 / AGI 50 / LUK 50, for example) is cheaper than one 99 and usually performs better while leveling — then you specialize with the remaining points.

Resetting: The Waybinder NPC

You can refund stat and skill points at the Waybinder NPC (towns). This makes experimenting nearly free — try a farming spread, then re-spec for bossing. Note: stat resets are about your points; the 99 cap applies to assigned base points only, so gear/card bonuses stack on top.

Common Stat Mistakes

  1. Ignoring DEX on casters — cast speed is a damage stat for spellcasters, not a luxury.
  2. Skipping VIT — the game has no EXP death penalty, but respawn walking still costs time; VIT keeps you alive between heals.
  3. Chasing 99 in one stat — the doubled cost curve makes this the slowest way to power.
  4. Forgetting LUK for crit builds — the crit formula scales with LUK/5; crit-heavy loadouts under-investing LUK leave damage on the table.

For how stats interact with gear substats, cards and artifacts, see the builds guide and the gear guide. For how many points you'll have at each level, the leveling guide and the EXP table show the curve.
