The Seven-Step Repair Process

1. Take the order — customer or online (see the online orders guide)
2. Disassemble — unscrew the case, remove cables and components in the right order; the correct screwdriver matters
3. Clean — dirt, corrosion and sticky buttons cause most faults; cleaning first saves money
4. Diagnose — identify the real fault (burnt board, dead battery, cracked screen)
5. Fix — replace parts or repair components (soldering, gluing, firmware — see the firmware guide)
6. Reassemble — reverse the disassembly correctly
7. Deliver — return the device, take payment, empty the tip jar

The Tool Tiers

Tools are bought via the shop and the in-game browser — the browser's tool section is where the ultrasonic bath and shredder live (and where the "Hands Free" and "Shredder" achievements send you, per the achievements guide).

Painting, Stickers and Reprogramming

Three customization layers sit on top of the core loop:

• Painting — custom orders let you paint devices; pays well and unlocks the painting achievements

• Reprogramming — deeper software modification; the "Hacking 101" and "11001" achievements track it, and it's used in the assembly competitions

Decorating your workshop isn't just vibes — it grants Zen Points from cozy items (VHS tapes, maneki-neko, bonsai, kaiju figures...). Over 100 Zen Points unlocks "A Place of Zen," and the full Zen Points table is in the achievements guide. Decoration is a mid-game luxury — tools and parts first.

The Repair Loop, Minute to Minute

Putting the seven steps together, a normal repair looks like this (per the launch playthroughs):

1. Take the order — the bell rings; accept or decline. Deadline orders show a day countdown.
2. Disassemble in order — unscrew the case, unclip cables, note where layers go. The game highlights what's dirty or broken as you inspect.
3. Clean everything — dirty parts are the silent killer: a "busted" device is often just filthy. The brush tier matters — the basic brush is slow, the upgraded tools are faster (see the tool tiers table above).
4. Check the parts list — the game tells you exactly what's broken; order replacements from the Marketplace or pull them from a donor device.
5. Reassemble — the puzzle: layers, screws, cable clips. The game blocks finishing while anything is dirty or mis-ordered, so you can't deliver a half-fix.
6. Deliver and take the tip jar — plus the customer review, which feeds your reputation (tips guide explains the rating loop).
