The Lament is a trap-and-puzzle dungeon in Yaesha — one of the most secret-dense locations in the game — holding the Red Widow armor set, the Lodestone Crown, the Ring of Diversion, the Blood Tinged Ring and the Overdrive mutator. Its boss, Wither (an Aberration of a Root Slasher), drops the Overdrive mutator and Kolket's Razor. Nothing here is on the critical path, so almost every reward is optional — and most of them are behind the dungeon's two famous puzzles: the Consort's rune dial and the invisible-bridge floating pillars. This guide walks the whole dungeon in order, trap by trap.

Location and What You'll Find
The Lament spawns as an optional dungeon (rounded glowing yellow doorway on the mini-map) in Yaesha's Undead Tombs biome — reroll Yaesha Adventure Mode if it doesn't appear in your current roll. It's one of the few dungeons where traversal and observation matter more than combat: expect arrow corridors, saw blades, a symbol lock, and a section of invisible bridges. The full loot list:

Many of these rewards are tied to optional puzzles and hidden mechanics that can easily be missed during a first playthrough."
Step 1 — The Arrow Trap Corridors
The entrance is a winding corridor of arrow traps. The first two segments fire arrows alternately from both ends — you can crouch-walk through safely, or sprint side-to-side. Watch for a small stone mid-way you must vault. The third segment adds barriers with arrows raining from above: time your vaults between volleys. After the corridor, loot the chest and pull the lever to open the locked door — this also opens a permanent shortcut back through the arrows.
Step 2 — The Consort's Puzzle (Rune Dial)
The next room is full of shrouded mummies, each marked by a rune. At the far end, a book recounting the tales of Tethys the Red Widow — its first page shows a colored symbol matching some of the shrouds: that's the key. Circle around to the upper level, find the rune dial, and lock in the correct symbols (matching the shrouds from the book). The solution changes every instance, so always read the journal first — memorizing a friend's solution won't work.
The Consort's puzzle (and the floating-pillar symbols below) are randomized per world roll. The journal in the mummy room is the only reliable source for the pattern — treat any "fixed" solution you see online with suspicion.
Step 3 — The Red Widow's Coffin and the Saw Blades
Through the unlocked door is a room with two coffins — one holds Wither, the Aberration that drops the Overdrive mutator and Kolket's Razor (inspecting the Razor in your inventory transforms it into Kolket's Key). If Wither doesn't spawn here, check the large open-top coffin: climb in to find a hidden passage with two miniboss encounters.
On the balcony overlooking the coffin you'll find the Blood Tinged Ring — do NOT jump down from here (it's fatal). Instead, destroy the pots along the side walls to reveal a hidden hole. Below is a locked door needing the Supply Room Key — find it by crouching through a hidden water passage across the room. Past the supply closet: a pressure plate activates moving saw blades. The safe route is to follow the large middle saw once it swings away, weaving left-right around the lateral blades — or simply sprint the center between them. Success leads to the Red Widow's coffin and the full Red Widow Set (a solid medium set — stats in our armor sets guide).
Step 4 — Kolket's Tomb and the Invisible Bridges
After the Red Widow's tomb, loop back to the arrow room's second level and take the left path to the Floating Pillars Trap. Each platform shows a symbol; platforms sharing a symbol are connected by an invisible bridge, and the arrangement changes per instance. Two reliable ways to find the bridges:
- Aim downward at the floor — your reticle reacts (shows a hit marker) when pointing at a solid invisible surface.
- Throw the Krell Axe or Huntress Spear at the floor — it sticks in the air where an invisible bridge exists.
At the end, the door opens with Kolket's Key. Inside, several coffins — one holds the Ring of Diversion. A set of stairs behind an illusionary wall leads up to a hanging boat; drop down from it to find King Kolket's resting place and the Lodestone Crown helm.
Optional Events in the Undead Tombs
The Lament's zone can also roll injectable events worth looting: the Collapsed Tomb (Tomb Dweller's Ring on a mummy, Necklace of Flowing Life in a sarcophagus), the Living Stone chamber (four horned statues — shoot the crystals in their faces for an elevator to a golden chest with the Lithic Signet, then kill the two Stalking Statues), and The Coffin (Berserker's Crest behind the stairs, then the Extender mutator from a corrupted elite).
