Persona 5 Voice Actors — Full English & Japanese Cast

The Persona 5 English voice cast is led by Xander Mobus (Joker), Cassandra Lee Morris (Morgana), Max Mittelman (Ryuji), Erika Harlacher (Ann), Matthew Mercer (Yusuke), Cherami Leigh (Makoto), Erica Lindbeck (Futaba), Xanthe Huynh (Haru) and Robbie Daymond (Akechi) — the lineup Atlus announced in October 2016 and that has stuck together through Royal, Strikers and Tactica. Persona 5 Royal adds Laura Post as Kasumi Yoshizawa, and the Japanese cast is a who's who of anime voice acting headlined by Jun Fukuyama and Nana Mizuki.

This page covers the full English and Japanese cast for every Phantom Thief, every Confidant and the important NPCs, with the roles you'll actually recognize them from. If you're new to the cast, our Persona 5 characters guide explains who each of these characters is before you worry about who's behind the mic.

The cast never changes between games

Atlus confirmed at Strikers' press event that the same voice cast reprises their roles across Persona 5, Royal, Strikers and Tactica — so the table above is valid for every spinoff that features the Phantom Thieves. Tactica additionally brings in Leeanna Albanese (Erina) and MacLeod Andrews (Toshiro) for its new leads.

Supporting Cast and Confidants

The English dub goes well beyond the party — every Confidant and major NPC has a named actor, and the roster is stacked. This list matches the English Voice Over wiki's Persona 5 Royal page:

Character English voice actor
Igor (Velvet Room) Kirk Thornton
Caroline & Justine (Lavenza) Carrie Keranen
Sae Niijima Elizabeth Maxwell
Sojiro Sakura Jamieson Price
Yuuki Mishima Sean Chiplock
Munehisa Iwai Kaiji Tang
Tae Takemi Abby Trott
Sadayo Kawakami Michelle Ruff
Chihaya Mifune Sarah Williams
Shinya Oda Barbara Goodson
Hifumi Togo Eden Riegel
Toranosuke Yoshida William Salyers
Ichiko Ohya Amanda Winn-Lee
Takuto Maruki (Royal) Billy Kametz

A few of these are the kind of "wait, that's them?" reveals fans love: Kaiji Tang is also the English voice of Ichiban Kasuga in Like a Dragon, Michelle Ruff is Rukia in Bleach, and Amanda Winn-Lee directed and voiced in the Evangelion dub. Billy Kametz, who voiced Maruki in Royal, passed away in 2022 — his performance as the counselor is widely considered one of the best in the game's English dub.

Maruki's rank matters more than his voice

Whether you hear Kametz or the Japanese track, Maruki's story is missable: you must reach rank 9 of his Councillor Confidant before November 18 to unlock Royal's third semester — the arc our story themes guide explains in context. Getting the voice right is the easy part — getting the deadline right is what actually matters.

Japanese Audio Options and the Royal Redub

The original Persona 5 shipped with English audio only in the West at launch, but Atlus released the Japanese audio track as a free add-on (it appears as a free "Japanese Audio Track" DLC on the PlayStation Store). Royal fixed this properly: English and Japanese are both included from the start on every platform.

Royal also made a subtle but important change to the English dub — the new content is dubbed by the same actors, but several early-game scenes were re-recorded with fresh direction and lip-sync improvements, which is why some lines sound slightly different between vanilla and Royal even though the cast is identical (see our P5 vs Royal differences guide for the full list of changes).

Voice Casts Beyond Persona 5

  • Persona 5 Strikers — full cast reprises; the game was recorded remotely during COVID (per Atlus, reported by TheGamer).
  • Persona 5 Tactica — same cast plus Leeanna Albanese as Erina and MacLeod Andrews as Toshiro.
  • Persona 5: The Phantom X (P5X) — the free-to-play spinoff has no English dub at all. It's Japanese voice only worldwide, and multiple original P5 actors (Ikue Otani, Mamoru Miyano and others) reprise their roles — see GameRant's P5X cast list. The new cast includes Kouki Uchiyama as the protagonist Wonder, whose story we cover in our P5X characters guide.
  • Super Smash Bros. Ultimate — Xander Mobus voices Joker there too, which is how many players first heard the character outside P5.
