Halo Campaign Evolved Vehicles — All 6 Drivable Machines & the New Hijacking

Halo: Campaign Evolved puts six vehicles in your hands: the Warthog, Scorpion, Ghost, Wraith, Banshee and Seraph. The headline changes from 2001: the Warthog now seats four (an entire co-op squad fits), you can hijack enemy vehicles for the first time in this campaign, and the Wraith is fully drivable — a Covenant tank you could previously only destroy.

This guide covers every vehicle, the new hijacking mechanic, vehicle achievements, and co-op driving.

The 4-Seat Warthog in Co-op

The Warthog grew from three to four seats: one player drives, one runs the rear-mounted machine gun, and two passengers ride along. For a 4-player fireteam this is the centerpiece of co-op transport — pile the whole squad in and the gunner keeps the Ghosts off while the passengers handle rockets and sniping. The remake's Warthog handling is the classic feel: fast, bouncy, prone to spectacular flips (which are half the fun, and feed the "Claims Adjuster" achievement when parts break off).

Where you'll use it: the Halo mission's tunnel run, The Silent Cartographer's island, and most famously The Maw's final escape — the four-seater is why co-op Warthog runs are the community's favorite memory of the remake.

New: Vehicle Hijacking

For the first time in a CE campaign, you can steal enemy vehicles mid-fight:

  • Ghost — the easiest and most common hijack; fast scouts all over the campaign.
  • Banshee — hijackable during several encounters; also the target of the "That's My Ride" achievement (get to the Banshee before the Elite on Assault on the Control Room).
  • Wraith — the big prize: hijack an occupied Wraith and it becomes your personal artillery.
  • The Scorpion cannot be hijacked (it's yours or it's destroyed).

The New Whip achievement (hijack 10 vehicles) will come naturally over a full playthrough; the achievements guide has the fastest farming route.

Hijack etiquette on Legendary

Hijacking is risky on high difficulties — the animation leaves you exposed. EMP the vehicle first with an overcharged plasma pistol shot, then board. It's the classic technique and it still works perfectly.

New: Drivable Wraith

The Wraith is driveable for the first time in this campaign — and it's a game-changer. Its plasma mortar delivers massive splash damage over range, it hovers (smooth over any terrain), and it's noticeably faster than the Scorpion. Community consensus: a captured Wraith is the strongest vehicle in the sandbox, capable of soloing encounters that would chew through a fireteam. It appears throughout the campaign as the Covenant's heavy — capture one whenever you can, especially on The Silent Cartographer, Assault on the Control Room and Two Betrayals.

Vehicle Combat Tips

  • Ghost: boost-to-splatter is the classic move; strafe Wraiths and hit their weak rear.
  • Scorpion: slow but unstoppable — hold open areas, use the cannon on Hunters and Wraiths, and let Marines take the turret for extra fire.
  • Banshee: practice the bombing run — strafe ground targets with plasma, use the boost to break contact. It's also the only way to reach several skull locations (Tough Luck, Mythic).
  • Seraph: the METEORITE finale puts you in a space dogfight — lead your shots, keep moving, and don't hold still against turret fire (see the Operation METEORITE guide).
  • Vehicle parts: shooting vehicles breaks off parts (the Claims Adjuster achievement); Endurance Spec skull makes UNSC vehicles invincible, which changes co-op tactics entirely (see the skulls overview).
Vehicles and Flood don't mix

Flood combat forms can board your vehicle in the later missions and will beat you to death inside it. Dismount and clear, or keep moving so they can't latch on.

  • New Whip (10G) — hijack 10 vehicles.
  • Claims Adjuster (10G) — break off 50 vehicle parts.
  • That's My Ride (10G) — AotCR: get to the Banshee before the Elite.
  • Clean Lap (10G) — The Maw: complete the Warthog run without being forcibly ejected.
  • Endurance Spec (skull) — makes UNSC vehicles indestructible, which feeds the LASO survival strategies.
