Fields of Mistria Rare Items — Where to Find Them

Where to find Fields of Mistria's rarest finds: Refined Stone, Faceted Rock Gem, Jade Dulse, Stone Loach, Freshwater Oyster, and the museum's Fish Wing sets.

Fields of Mistria Rare Items — Refined Stone, Faceted Rock Gem & More

The rarest items in Fields of Mistria share one trait: they're all gated behind the mines and the museum. Some — like Refined Stone — are processed materials you craft, others are dig-spot artifacts, forageables, or fish that only spawn in specific mine floors. Most of them are museum-critical, and a few are quest items you should never sell.

This guide covers six of the most-searched rare finds: Refined Stone, Faceted Rock Gem, Jade Dulse, Stone Loach, Freshwater Oyster, and the museum's Fish Wing — what they are, where they come from, and what they're for. For the systems behind them, see the mines guide, the fishing guide, and the museum guide.

Refined Stone — The Stone Refinery Product

Refined Stone is a processed material used in dozens of high-level Woodcrafting recipes, construction, and quests. It is not found in the world — you make it:

  • Recipe: 10 Stone → 1 Refined Stone at the Stone Refinery
  • Craft time: 10 minutes
  • Sell price: 22 Tesserae (don't bother — it's worth far more in recipes)
  • Donatable: No

Two related skills make it cheaper: Refined Rockery (cuts Stone Refinery craft time by 10 minutes, to 0) and Break One, Get Two (chance of a bonus crafted item). It feeds the Gemstone Bridge, Obsidian furniture, and a long list of stone furniture sets, so hoard it once your forge and refinery are up. Per the wiki.gg Refined Stone page, it's also a gift — some villagers like it.

Bank stone, not refined stone

Stone is everywhere (rocks, clods, mine walls). Set the Refinery running whenever you have 10 spare stone — by mid-game you'll want hundreds of Refined Stone for furniture and quests.

Faceted Rock Gem — The Deep Earth Artifact

The Faceted Rock Gem is one of the most misleading items in the game: "Despite its mesmerizing, gem-like appearance, it's just a piece of rock," per the wiki.gg item page. It's an uncommon artifact that looks like a jewel but belongs to the museum's Deep Earth artifact set.

  • Location: The Deep Earth section of the mines (floors 41-59)
  • How to get it: dig Dig Spots in the Deep Earth with any Pickaxe or Shovel; with the Stoneturner skill enabled, breaking rocks there can also drop it
  • Sell price: 75 Tesserae — but donate it first; one is required for the Deep Earth set in the museum
  • Uses: museum set, gifts, and certain quests
Donate before you sell

Faceted Rock Gem is set-critical for the museum. Sell duplicates if you like, but the first one belongs in the museum — the museum guide explains the set-completion rewards.

Jade Dulse — The Tide Caverns Seaweed

Jade Dulse is a mines forageable that looks like ocean kelp in a cave — a great thickener for soups, and a cooking-recipe unlock:

  • Location: Tide Caverns (mine floors 21-39), all seasons
  • Stats: restores 5 Health and 5 Stamina when eaten
  • Sell price: 30 Tesserae
  • Donatable: Yes — it's part of the Tide Caverns set in the museum's Flora Wing
  • Why it matters: donating a Jade Dulse unlocks specific cooking recipes, and it appears in Valen's loved-gift list — she's fond of the Deep Sea Soup family of dishes

Per the wiki.gg Jade Dulse page, Reina even sneaks it into the inn's soup special. It's the seaweed that ties the mines, the museum, and the kitchen together.

Grab one per Tide Caverns run

Jade Dulse spawns in all seasons, so there's no calendar pressure — but the museum recipe unlock is a one-time gate. Donate the first one before using any in cooking.

Stone Loach — The Upper Mines Camouflage Fish

Stone Loach is a common fish that only spawns in the Upper Mines — the river fish of the mine's first section. It "easily blends in with the surrounding rocks," which is the game's joke about its name:

  • Location: The Upper Mines (any floor, fishing)
  • Type: Fishing-pole fish, Medium size, Common rarity
  • Season/weather: All seasons, any weather
  • Sell price: 35 Tesserae
  • Donatable: Yes — part of the Upper Mines fish set

Using Common Fish Bait first boosts its spawn rate. Dell (Celine's sister) has a documented fascination with the museum's Stone Loach specimen — "a master of camouflage," per the wiki.gg fish page. It's also a request item, so keep a couple in a chest.

Freshwater Oyster — The River Diving Mollusk

Freshwater Oyster is a common diving mussel found in rivers — you won't catch it with a rod:

  • Location: any river; found by Diving (not fishing)
  • Season/weather: All seasons, any weather
  • Sell price: 25 Tesserae
  • Donatable: No — but it's used in requests and quests
  • Skill synergy: the Appealing Reeling skills make dive-spots easier to reach, per the wiki.gg oyster page

It's a reliable early quest item: rivers are everywhere, so a quick dive pass on the way to town keeps you stocked for request board fodder.

The Museum's Fish Wing — 22 Sets and the Rare Fish Home

"Fish Wing" isn't an item — it's the museum's fish collection wing, and it's where most rare fish end up. The wiki.gg Fish Wing page lists 22 sets to complete:

  • Season sets: Multi-Season, then Spring/Summer/Fall/Winter × River/Pond/Ocean (12 sets)
  • Gear sets: Fish Bait Set, Fish Trap Set
  • Location sets: Deep Woods, Upper Mines, Tide Caverns, Deep Earth, Lava Caves, Ruins (6 sets)
  • The crown jewel: the Legendary Fish Set — the four legendary catches with their weather and quest conditions (see the fishing guide)

Stone Loach feeds the Upper Mines set; the mine-lake legendary completes the chain. Set completion pays equipment and renown — the museum guide has the full reward table.

Never sell a fish you haven't donated

Rare and legendary fish are set-critical and often seasonal. Check the Fish Wing checklist before selling anything unusual — re-catching a legendary next season is a grind nobody wants. The fishing guide lists each legendary's conditions.
