Fields of Mistria Animals — All 8 Ranch Animals, Golden Products & Breeding (1.0)
Fields of Mistria has eight ranch animal species — chickens, cows, ducks, rabbits, sheep, horses, capybaras and alpacas — and every one of them has a hidden heart system that decides what it produces. The biggest jump in animal value happens at ten hearts: the animal stops dropping its ordinary product and produces only the golden version, worth roughly 50% more gold per day.
This guide covers the full 1.0 animal system: every species and its output, how hearts actually work (with exact point values), golden products, breeding and coat tiers, the Winter 10 Animal Festival, and how pets differ from ranch animals.
Here's what you'll learn:
- All 8 ranch animals, their buy prices, products and production cycles
- How animal hearts work: petting +5, feeding +5, neglect −15
- Why ten hearts is the value cliff every animal has
- Breeding: 123 coat tiers across 8 species, and how to raise tiers
- The Animal Festival scoring formula (Winter 10)
- Pet jobs, 57 appearances and accessories

Every Ranch Animal in Fields of Mistria
All ranch animals are housed in farm buildings and produce an item on a set cycle. Females and males of the same species can differ — chickens and ducks lay eggs daily as females, but males produce feathers every three days.
| Animal | Buy price | Normal product | Production cycle | 10-heart daily value |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Chicken | 1,000g | Chicken Egg (female) / Rooster Feather (male) | Egg daily, feather every 3 days | 66g/day |
| Duck | 1,500g | Duck Egg / Duck Feather | Egg daily, feather every 3 days | 99g/day |
| Rabbit | 1,500g | Rabbit Wool | Every 3 days | 99g/day |
| Sheep | 2,000g | Sheep Wool | Every 3 days | 132g/day |
| Cow | ~2,000g* | Milk | Daily | ~132g/day |
| Horse | ~2,000g* | Horse Hair | Every 3 days | ~132g/day |
| Capybara | ~2,300g* | Bristle | Every 3 days | ~143g/day |
| Alpaca | ~2,300g* | Alpaca Wool | Every 3 days | ~143g/day |
* Ducks, rabbits, sheep, cows and the later species unlock after Hayden's farm is repaired; prices for the later four vary slightly between sources — check the ranch shop before buying. Chickens are available from the start.
Chickens are available from day one, cost only 1,000g, and pay out daily — a single hen pays for itself in about two in-game weeks. Eggs are also a cooking staple, so a small flock (3-4 hens) covers both income and recipes before you unlock the other species.
How Animal Hearts Work
Every animal is scored once overnight. The three things that move hearts:
| Action | Heart points |
|---|---|
| Petting the animal | +5 |
| Feeding it | +5 (plus a bonus based on the food) |
| Ordinary full day of care | +10 |
| Neglect (not petted, not fed, left outside) | −15 |
A missed day costs more than a good day gains, so consistency beats bursts. The heart level changes what the animal produces: at higher hearts the harvest count goes up (1.0 → 1.2 → 2.0 → 2.2 per harvest), golden chance appears at 8 hearts, and everything collapses into golden-only at 10.
Food quality matters. A one-star cooked dish hand-fed to an animal is worth 10 heart points — the same as ultimate feed. Each additional star adds one point, making a five-star dish worth 14. Plain hay or seed is worth 5, so a five-star dish gives almost three times as much. Compared with ultimate feed, the difference is only 1.4×, so save your expensive dishes for the last heart or two.
One neglected night (−15) wipes out a full day of petting and feeding (+10). If you're going to be away for several in-game days, put the animal inside and make sure its feed bin is full — an animal left outside and unfed is the fastest way to lose progress.
Golden Animals & Golden Products
At ten hearts, the ordinary product stops completely and the animal produces only the golden version. You collect fewer items, but their daily value rises — this is the biggest single jump in value an animal ever makes.
The table above shows the cliff clearly: a chicken is worth 46g/day at 9 hearts and 66g/day at 10 hearts; a sheep jumps from ~92g to 132g/day. Golden products (Golden Egg, Golden Milk, Golden Sheep Wool, Golden Horse Hair…) are also universal "golden" gifting items — Louis and Merri love golden animal products, and golden wool/feathers show up in many loved-gift lists.
Getting to 10 hearts efficiently: pet every day (+5), keep the feed bin topped up (+5+), and use heart treats — each species has its own Heart Shaped treat (Heart Shaped Chicken Treat, Heart Shaped Sheep Treat, etc.) that feeds extra heart points. Cooked dishes are the premium option: a 5-star dish is worth 14 points, three times plain feed.
Breeding & Coat Tiers
There are 123 coats across the eight species, graded tier 1 to 6. The tier sets both the animal's price and its festival score. Only tier-1 coats are in stock at the shop — every higher tier comes from breeding.
How breeding works:
- Put a male and a female of the same species in one building.
- Raise both to at least two hearts.
- Feed each the correct Heart Shaped treat.
- Leave one stall free for the baby. Chickens and ducks additionally need a free incubator.
Offspring tier comes from the parents. Two parents of the same tier produce a tier + 1 baby, raising the line one tier per generation. The four seasonal coats can only be conceived during their own season, so check the calendar before breeding for those.
Breeding two tier-1 parents gives a tier-2 baby, two tier-2 parents give tier-3, and so on up to tier 6. There's no shortcut to skipping tiers — keep the best male and female of your current tier breeding while the rest of the flock produces income.
The Animal Festival (Winter 10)
The Animal Festival happens every Winter 10 and scores one animal using this exact formula:
Score = 15 + (Tier × 5) + (Hearts − 1) × 5
Tier and hearts carry equal weight. A well-loved common animal can beat a neglected rare one, while a high-tier animal at ten hearts wins outright. If you want the festival crown, bring your highest-tier animal and max its hearts — the two bonuses stack directly.
Pets: Jobs, Skins & Accessories
Pets are separate from ranch animals. There are 57 appearances (cats, dogs and monster looks), 177 accessories, and each pet can be assigned one of three jobs whose daily yield grows with the pet's heart level. Unlike ranch animals, pets don't produce golden versions — their value is the daily job yield plus the cosmetic collection.
If you searched for "fields of mistria seals" expecting an animal: "seals" in this game refers to the mine seals — the elemental barriers you break to unlock new mine biomes (Water Seal, Fire Seal, Ruins Seal…). That's a mines mechanic, not a ranch animal. See our mines guide for the full seal walkthrough.
