Fields of Mistria Gift Guide — Every Villager's Loved Gifts (1.0)
Complete Fields of Mistria gift guide: how gifts work, heart points, every villager's loved gifts, birthdays, and the fastest way to max out hearts in 1.0.
Fields of Mistria Gift Guide — Every Villager's Loved Gifts (1.0)
Fields of Mistria has 34 villagers and every one of them tracks a hidden pool of heart points. Give one gift per villager per day, and the right item is worth 20 heart points — the wrong one is worth zero and the item is gone. On a villager's birthday that loved gift jumps to 40 points, which makes birthdays the single most efficient relationship day of the year.
This guide covers the full 1.0 gift system: the exact point values, the thresholds for each heart, how to discover tastes without a wiki, the loved gifts for all 12 romanceable characters and all 22 other villagers, and a strategy for maxing hearts fast.
Here's what you'll learn:
- How gift point values actually work (loved +20, liked +10, birthday +20)
- Every heart threshold from 1 to 10 hearts, and why the last one costs so much
- The three in-game systems that reveal a villager's tastes
- All 12 romanceable characters' loved gifts and birthdays
- A compact loved-gift table for the other 22 villagers
- The birthday rule, and a day-by-day strategy for fast hearts

How Gifts Work in Fields of Mistria
Every villager has a hidden pool of heart points. Hearts appear as you cross fixed thresholds: 80 points for the first heart, then 180, 280, 390, 530, 705, 900, 1125, 1450 and 1850 for the tenth. Because the gaps widen, the last heart costs roughly five times as much as the first — early on, daily conversation carries you; later, only loved gifts move the needle at a useful rate.
Here are the exact point values:
| Action | Heart points |
|---|---|
| Talk to a villager (once per day) | +7 |
| Loved gift | +20 |
| Liked gift | +10 |
| Neutral gift | +3 |
| Disliked or hated gift | +0 (item consumed, no penalty) |
| Any gift on the villager's birthday | +20 extra |
| Loved gift on a birthday | +40 |
| Void gift to the right villager | +80 |
Two things most guides get wrong: disliked and hated gifts do not subtract points — they just waste the item and trigger a bad reaction — and the birthday bonus is a flat +20 on top, not a multiplier.
You can gift each villager once per day. There is no cap on how many different villagers you can gift, so a daily loop around town (talk +7, gift +10–20) is worth 17–27 points per villager per day with almost zero planning.
Dislikes are tag-driven
Villagers don't each have a personal list of disliked items. Instead, almost everyone dislikes anything tagged junk, bugs or "weird" — a whole category is unsafe at once. Each villager also has exactly one specific hated gift (for example, Ryis hates the Pond Skater, Dell hates Broccoli). The game will tell you what an item is tagged as before you hand it over, so check the tooltip on anything that looks like trash, a critter, or a "gift for someone else".
How to Discover a Villager's Tastes
You don't have to memorise 34 gift lists to play well. Fields of Mistria reveals preferences through four in-game systems:
- Daily dialogue. Villagers frequently mention what they like, what they're cooking, or what they want — "I've been craving a hot bowl of beet soup" is a direct hint at a loved gift.
- Elsie's gossip. The retired socialite (Summer 2) periodically lets you choose to learn a liked or loved gift for a villager of your choice. Free intel, use it early.
- Museum donations. After you donate crops, fish, bugs, artifacts or forageables to the museum, villagers will occasionally bring up the items you've donated and react to them — an easy way to map tastes while you're doing the museum grind anyway.
- The pause-menu Villagers list. Each character's profile page slowly fills in their liked and loved items as you discover them. Open it regularly and you'll see your knowledge fill in.
The 1.0 update added two new market vendors — Stillwell (fortune telling) and Zorel (music) — bringing the roster to 34. Both already have full gift tables in the game's data; if a guide you read predates August 2026 it won't list them.
The 12 Romanceable Characters — Loved & Liked Gifts
Twelve villagers are romanceable in 1.0 (hearts climb to 10, then proposal events). These are the ones to prioritise once you've picked a favourite. Loved gifts are worth 20 points, liked gifts 10.

March hates all flowers, even though most of Mistria adores them. Celine lives on flowers, March rejects them — always double-check a romanceable character's individual list before dumping your spring bouquet. The same goes for the universal "everyone likes gems" rule: Olric and Wheedle love perfect gems, but a few villagers only like them neutral.

The Birthday Rule — When Gifts Are Worth Double
Any gift handed over on a villager's birthday earns +20 extra points, which stacks with the gift's own value — a loved birthday gift is worth 40 points, the single most efficient thing you can do for a relationship all year. Two birthdays to mark on your calendar if you're chasing romance: Ryis (Spring 4) and Valen (Fall 1) are the earliest and latest candidates of the spring half; the full list is above in each table.
A loved gift on a birthday is worth the same as two loved gifts on normal days. If you're grinding toward a heart event, save 3-4 of a character's loved gifts and unload them on their birthday week — one normal gift per day plus a 40-point birthday gift will clear the gap between hearts quickly.
The two Void gifts are the exception to every rule above: they're worth a huge +80 points but only to specific villagers, so hold onto them until you know who wants them.
Gift-Giving Strategy for Fast Hearts
Weeks 1-2 (no cooking yet): Talk to everyone daily (+7) and gift universal-safe items — foraged flowers, gemstones, and basic crops. Check the tooltip first: anything tagged junk, bugs or "weird" is a guaranteed waste. Target Olric and Wheedle early with perfect ore/gems if you're mining, since their loved gifts are all mine loot.
Weeks 3-5 (cooking unlocked): This is where hearts actually accelerate. Cooked dishes dominate the loved lists — Apple Honey Curry (Balor, Caldarus, Reina, Taliferro), Beet Soup (Taliferro, Valen, Vera), Harvest Plate (Caldarus, Taliferro, Valen, Vera) and Golden Cookies (six villagers) are the highest-coverage loved gifts in the game. One kitchen run covers four or five villagers.
Endgame (chasing 10 hearts): The last heart needs 400 points (from 1450 to 1850), so daily talk alone takes two months. Switch to giving loved gifts only — ideally cooked multi-target dishes — and time your biggest stockpile for the candidate's birthday. Steady, intentional gifting is the fastest path to the proposal event in 1.0.
They give zero points, consume the item, and trigger a bad reaction. There's no penalty to friendship, but you've thrown away a daily gift slot and an item for nothing. If you're not sure what something is, check the tag before gifting.
