Who Is the Sea Emperor?

The Sea Emperor Leviathan is the largest known living leviathan-class organism in the crater. Unlike every other leviathan, she is passive and sapient — she communicates telepathically, and the screen distorts when she speaks (the same effect as a Warper's teleport or a Mesmer's hypnosis). She's approximately 2,600 years old, far past her species' natural lifespan, kept alive by the aquarium's life support. Her diet is only micro-organisms filtered from the water — like a baleen whale — and her forelimbs are two massive paddle-like arms used for stabilization.

Bone samples from deceased leviathan specimens indicate some potential for Kharaa immunity. Her backstory: the Precursors captured the last adult Sea Emperor roughly 1,000 years ago (the facility is about that old) hoping to use her natural Enzyme 42 production as a Kharaa cure. Her enzymes proved too unstable, and they couldn't hatch her eggs — they experimented on three of the eggs and attached the rest to the Incubator Device. 2. Lava Castle → the Alien Thermal Plant inside it holds the Blue Tablet (or craft one: 1 Ion Cube + 2 Kyanite).
3. Lava Lakes → the facility entrance (coordinates 200 -1440 -222), opened with the Blue Tablet.
4. Inside, a second Blue Tablet unlocks the Moonpool room, which leads down to the aquarium where she lives with her five eggs.

The Aquarium Sequence

The aquarium is a huge enclosed ocean — full of passive Stalkers, Bonesharks and Cave Crawlers (the facility's creatures are all neutral), schools of fish, coral and even Oculus. In the story sequence:

1. She speaks to you telepathically on approach — the first contact comes even earlier, triggered either 60 minutes after you try the Quarantine Enforcement Platform terminal or 20 minutes after reaching the Disease Research Facility (whichever comes first), then again after you obtain the Blue Tablet, and again upon entering the Lava Lakes.
2. She asks you to hatch her eggs and tells you what to gather. Insert an Ion Cube into the Incubator Device to activate it.
3. She clears the sand covering the aquarium's Alien Arch — the teleporter that leads to the facility's surface exit, letting you travel in and out freely.

Hatching Enzymes — the Recipe and Every Ingredient

Four ingredients come from Alien Arches you activate inside the facility; the Sea Crown is the wildcard. The Sea Emperor's story is why the Peeper matters: over the centuries she trained Peepers to carry Enzyme 42 through the Alien Vents to the surface, which kept a trickle of life alive on 4546B despite the Kharaa outbreak.
