Doloc Town Weather Seasons — Full Season Guide (2026)

Doloc Town's weather isn't flavor text — it's the game's central survival mechanic. The year runs on four seasons of 28 days each (Light Rain, Heavy Rain, Early Dry, Harsh Dry), and each one brings weather that can destroy unprotected crops, damage buildings, or be harnessed for profit. Acid rain erodes planters, scorching heat bakes soil, thunderstorms can be channeled into power — and if you restore the environment far enough, you eventually control the climate itself. This guide explains the full calendar, every weather type, and what to plant and build in each season.

Here's what you'll learn:

  • The four-season calendar and how the 1.0 rename works
  • Every weather type and what it does (acid rain, scorching sun, storms and more)
  • What to plant and protect in each season (with the crop guides for numbers)
  • The regional weather tendencies added in 1.0
  • Weather defense: plastic coverings, lightning rods, genes
  • How weather affects fishing, exploration and power
  • The Environmental Modifier and endgame climate control

The Four-Season Calendar

Before 1.0 the year was four unnamed "months"; the 1.0 patch renamed them into a proper seasonal calendar. Each season lasts 28 in-game days (the year is 112 days), and the crop, fish and forage lists all rotate with it. Both naming schemes are in active use by the community:

Month Official English (1.0) Community / alt name Character
1 Light Rain Season Mistshade Mild rain, mist; Salmon Festival on the 25th–27th; Mushroom Fest Feb 15–18
2 Heavy Rain Season Raincrest Frequent heavy rain and thunderstorms; acid rain events
3 Early Dry Season Blazefall Heat builds; first drought pressure
4 Harsh Dry Season Emberreach Scorching sun, drought month; crop withering; price spikes
"Three seasons" in older guides

Some guides (including parts of this site's beginner content) describe three phases — Mistshade, Rainy, Dry. That's the community shorthand: the mild rain phase (Light Rain = "Mistshade"), the heavy rain phase, and the dry season split into early/harsh halves. The official 1.0 model is four seasons, and this guide uses that.

Every Weather Type and What It Does

The game cycles through seven weather states (day is 06:00–18:59, night 19:00–05:59):

  • Sunny — baseline; nothing special, solar generators produce.
  • Cloudy — mild; no penalties.
  • Rainy — auto-waters your outdoor planters for free.
  • Thunderstorm — lightning strikes; channel it with lightning rods to charge batteries, or let it damage unprotected buildings. With the Charge gene, storms accelerate crop growth.
  • Windy — affects wind turbines; some fishing conditions.
  • Acid Rain — the signature hazard: eats uncovered crops and damages the player without protective equipment. Requires plastic coverings or the Keratinized gene outdoors.
  • Scorching Sun / heatwave — plants need more water, soil dries out; requires extra watering or the Needle-leaf gene. In Harsh Dry (April), crops wither and prices spike.

The 1.0 patch adjusted the probability of each weather type per season "to better reflect their seasonal characteristics," and the Environmental Modifier equipment only generates weather matching the current season.

Farming Each Season

Light Rain (Mistshade) — the gentle opener. Mild rain auto-waters everything; slow-growing, high-value crops do best here. Plant the rainy-season staples (Endyam, Thundergrass, Paddy/rice — sow rice before ~Feb 23 or the greenhouse quest stalls), and be ready for the Mushroom Fest (Feb 15–18) when wild mushrooms spawn across the wilderness — forage them for festival furniture and contest rewards. It's also the Salmon Festival window (25th–27th) — the only time-limited fish event in the game.

Heavy Rain (Raincrest) — the dangerous one. Acid rain is the season's signature. Before it hits you want plastic coverings over every vulnerable planter or the Keratinized gene on outdoor crops, a lightning rod so storms power something instead of only damaging, and the Charge gene to turn strikes into growth events. The good news: acid rain still auto-waters, and mushrooms spawn free during the rain. See the gene system guide for the Keratinized + Charge combo.

Early Dry (Blazefall) — heat builds. Scorching sun increases water demand. This is the season for heat-tolerant crops (Succulent with its natural Needle-leaf trait, Potato, Corn) and indoor/sheltered planting for your high-value multi-harvests. Solar output peaks — a good time to bank power.

Harsh Dry (Emberreach) — the drought month. The hardest month for farming: crops wither without extra water, and April is when prices spike, so hoard high-value goods to sell. Heat-resistant genes (Needle-leaf) and indoor planters carry you through, and the rare Glow Eel only bites at the Dock on scorching days — a reason to grab the fishing rod on the worst days of the year.

The season-flip trap

The single biggest loss in Doloc Town: planting a rain-sensitive crop in the tail of the dry season and watching it die on the first day of rain. Before every season change, walk your planters and confirm each one is weather-proof, covered, or indoors — the best farm layout guide builds this into the design.

Regional Weather (1.0)

1.0 added distinct weather tendencies per region:

  • The Wetlands stay rainy all year round — plan crops and fish accordingly; it's effectively a permanent rainy-season biome.
  • The Old City stays dry all year — permanent dry-season conditions in the endgame region.
  • The outskirts and valley follow the seasonal calendar.

This changes territory strategy: the Wetland Farm and Old City Farm (see the 1.0 features guide) are climate choices, not just space. Grow rainy-season crops in the Wetlands year-round, dry-season crops in the Old City, and rotate the home plot.

Weather Defense and Harvesting the Storm

Defense, in priority order:

  1. Plastic coverings — cheap insurance for exposed planters against acid rain.
  2. Lightning rods — turn storms into free power; place them near Charge-gene crops for growth acceleration.
  3. Weather genes — Keratinized (acid-rain immunity), Needle-leaf (heat immunity), Fortitude (general resilience). Full details in the gene system guide.
  4. Indoor planting — tents, shipping containers, the greenhouse and basement mushroom bags all ignore outdoor weather. Crops grow slower indoors, but they survive.
  5. The Environmental Modifier — the endgame restoration project; once assembled it lets you control the climate, effectively ending weather as a threat and letting you pick the season you need.

Per the official 1.0 patch notes (Steam), assembling the Environmental Modifier "unlocks the endgame perk: the ability to control the climate" — the payoff for the main story's environmental restoration arc.

Weather, Fishing and Exploration

  • Fishing: a few fish are weather-locked — the Glow Eel needs scorching days at the Dock, Grass Carp and Kelp prefer rain/thunder/acid rain conditions, and the Gold Fish is a dry-season catch at Deer Statue Pond. The full table is in the best fishing spots guide.
  • Exploration: night exploration is dangerous everywhere (the regions guide covers route planning); rain-soaked Wetlands terrain drains stamina; acid rain damages the player without protective equipment.
  • Power: solar output peaks in the dry season, storms charge batteries via lightning rods in the rainy season, and wind turbines add a third source. The farm layout guide explains the 1.0 power loop.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many seasons does Doloc Town have?

Four seasons of 28 in-game days each (112-day year): Light Rain, Heavy Rain, Early Dry, Harsh Dry. Community guides sometimes group them into three phases (Mistshade, rainy, dry), which is the same calendar under different names.

What are the seasons in Doloc Town?

Light Rain Season (mild rain, Mushroom Fest Feb 15–18, Salmon Festival 25–27), Heavy Rain Season (acid rain, thunderstorms), Early Dry Season (heat builds), and Harsh Dry Season (drought, scorching sun, price spikes).

How do I protect crops from acid rain in Doloc Town?

Plastic coverings on exposed planters, the Keratinized gene for outdoor crops, or indoor planting (tents, containers, greenhouse, basement). Pair lightning rods with the Charge gene to turn storms into growth acceleration.

What weather types exist in Doloc Town?

Sunny, cloudy, rainy, thunderstorm, windy, acid rain and scorching sun. Rain auto-waters, thunderstorms power lightning rods, acid rain destroys uncovered crops, and scorching sun dries soil and forces extra watering.

Does weather affect fishing in Doloc Town?

Yes — the Glow Eel only bites on scorching days at the Dock, Grass Carp and Kelp favor rain/thunder/acid conditions, and the Gold Fish is a dry-season catch. The Salmon Festival (Light Rain 25–27) is the only time-limited fish event.
