Release Date, Price and the Early Access Recap

Doloc Town launched in Early Access on May 8, 2025 and hit its full 1.0 release on August 6, 2026 (Steam's date is Aug 5 in UTC). The base game costs $19.99, with a launch discount of 20% ($15.99) that ran through August 19–20. The four major EA updates that built toward 1.0:

  • Pastoral Waves (Aug 2025) — animal husbandry, aquaculture, the Tengri faction NPC Kenenimuu, ranching tech tree
  • Thrive & Ties (Nov 2025) — NPC friendship storylines, town reputation, festivals
  • Harvest Fusion (Feb 2026) — the gene system: 4 gene machines, 21 modules, crossbreeding (our gene system guide covers it)
  • Steam Workshop integration (June 2026) — cosmetic and content mod support

Early Access saves carry over to 1.0 — no restart required — though the community widely agrees a fresh save is worth it for the complete story (more on that below).

New Area: Old City Ruins

The headline addition: the Old City Ruins, the third major map, an endgame metropolis with distinct districts — the Industrial District, Residential Quarter, Commercial Zone and Central Park, connected by elevated roadways. Key facts from the official content overview and GameGrin's preview:

  • 7 new enemy types, including the radiation chameleon bug and the "traffic enforcers" — one infamous enemy, the Traffic Light, shoots you for speeding through red lights.
  • Exclusive resources: titanium ore and metal supply crates; the 1.0 patch made Gold Ore rarer and more valuable.
  • Two new NPCs: Abel and Heron, who offer exclusive quests and the clues to unlock the Old City Farm.
  • Conveyor belts: activate the Industrial District's generator and conveyor belts start running, opening previously inaccessible areas.

The Ruins sit in a permanent dry climate (see weather and seasons) and are covered in depth in the regions guide. It's also where the main story ends.

Farming Automation

The long-requested automation system is now a core feature, supported by expanded Tech Tree branches (Industrial, Lifestyle/Life, and Ranching). Two phases:

  1. Early phase: small base stations and basic agricultural drones that automatically sow, water, fertilize and lay mulch.
  2. Late phase: large multi-functional base stations; multiple drone models can simultaneously manage crop farming, animal husbandry, item processing and cross-region transportation, covering indoor and outdoor farms.

New machines arrived with it: packing stations, new generators, and ranching tools including lint rollers and milking machines. The design goal, per the official announcement, is "effortless harvests" — the full build-out is in our best farm layout guide.

Main Story Conclusion and Climate Control

1.0 adds three new main quests that finish the overarching storyline. The narrative thread: after accepting the new quests, you follow Orlando's guidance to uncover the truth of this world, assemble all missing components for the Environmental Modifier, and unlock the endgame perk — the ability to control the climate. Once environmental restoration is complete, Merlin mails you an exclusive endgame side quest that closes the story. This is the "make the wasteland bloom" payoff the EA trailers promised, and it's the reason the story-following crowd calls 1.0 a complete experience.

Two Extra Farming Territories

Running out of farm space was the community's #1 complaint, and 1.0 answered it twice:

  • Wetland Farm — unlocked via the new neighbor you meet at the Wetland. The wetlands stay rainy year-round (regional weather tendencies were added in 1.0), so plan crops accordingly.
  • Old City Farm — unlocked through Abel and Heron's quests in the ruins, in a permanently dry climate.
  • Plus the final farm expansion tier for your main plot.

Per the official 1.0 patch notes (Steam), the game "replaced the in-game's four 'months' with four seasons" and made "different regions have distinct weather tendencies — the Wetlands remain in the rainy season throughout the year, while the Old City remains in the dry season." Territory choice is now a climate choice.

Mushroom Fest, Music Discs and Collectibles

  • Mushroom Fest — runs annually February 15–18; mushrooms spawn abundantly across the wilderness during the rainy season. Exchange them for mushroom-themed furniture, and on the final day the townsfolk hold a harvest contest with exclusive rewards.
  • 30 new music discs (cassette tapes) obtainable from chests, fishing, shops and festivals, plus the Portable Audio Player (Walkman) from tavern keeper Zenis' side quest — you can now curate your own soundtrack anywhere.
  • 12 new fish species, 15 unique accessories, 10 sets of combat drone parts, and a farm photo mode for panoramic screenshots of your entire plot.
  • 37 new achievements, bringing the total to 80.

1.0 Balance Changes That Matter

The patch notes are long; these are the changes players actually feel:

  • Early-game economy eased: coin rewards added to early quests and Archive submissions; smelting high-tier ingots is faster.
  • Combat: firearm critical damage 1.5× → 2×; tools deal more damage to monsters; enemies can no longer be permanently stun-locked; the No. 66 Mask makes all monsters of its series neutral; Eden Fruit became Eden Fruit Essence with a bigger max-HP bonus.
  • Resources: Gold Ore rarer and more valuable; Back Mountain mining area (cable car) spawns more Iron and Gold; Coal more efficient; stack size raised 99 → 999.
  • Ranching: animals produce special items faster, sell for more, and escape less; wells auto-draw water.
  • Fishing: spawn rates adjusted; the Gold Fish no longer gets rarer as you restore the environment.
  • Drone: improved interface (quick component equipping, direct drone switching); recipes moved from Old Chips to standard Chips via the Assembly Shaper.
  • QoL: improved player movement speed, upgraded save system (doloc-save-0.data with more auto-backups), new BGM playlists per season/location, beta localizations for Japanese, Korean, French, Russian, Brazilian Portuguese and German.

Should You Start a New Save?

Early Access saves transfer cleanly, so nothing forces a restart. But the case for a fresh save is strong: the tutorial now teaches the complete loop (including automation), the four-season calendar is renamed and rebalanced, the early-game economy is easier, and the full story arc — including the environmental restoration ending — plays much better from day one. New players should absolutely start fresh; veterans with deep saves can continue, but most of the community is starting over to see the complete 1.0 arc.

Redeem the free music codes

Dial 12311, 24141 and 35321 at the telephone booth on the right side of the farm to unlock the three Mysterious Melody music discs. The 1.0 dev notes confirmed redemption codes are now permanent, so a fresh save can grab them whenever.

Either way, redeem the in-game gift codes (12311, 24141, 35321) at the phone booth on the right side of the farm for the free music discs — codes are permanent now.
