Doloc Town Best Fishing Spots — Rare Fish Locations & Catch Conditions (2026)

Every body of water in Doloc Town is a fishing pool with its own catch list, junk rate and rarity weights — which means standing at the wrong pond wastes your whole day. This guide ranks the best fishing spots in the game, from the 0%-trash Deer Statue Pond to the high-risk Dock, with the exact fish, weather and rod requirements for each. If you're chasing the collection book or just want the fastest gold, start here.

Here's what you'll learn:

  • How pools, junk rates and rarity weights work
  • Deer Statue Pond — the best spot in the game (0% trash, Gold Fish loop)
  • The Dock — Tuna, Glow Eel, Mimicry Fish and the trash tax
  • Mountain Pond — the Sturgeon payday (double jump required)
  • Wetlands and cave pools — the rarest habitats
  • Rod progression and the one rod that matters (Bamboo)
  • The fish-by-spot table and catch conditions

How Pools Work

The game has ~20 fishing pools, each with two numbers that decide your session:

  • Junk rate — the chance a bite is trash instead of a fish (some pools are 0%, some 20–25%).
  • Rarity weights — the relative odds of each rarity tier. The standard spread is R0 common 45 / R1 25 / R2 15 / R3 10 / R4 rare 5, and a fish's catch rate = its weight ÷ (sum of all weights in that pool at your rod level).

Every fish also has a minimum rod tier — below it, the fish never bites, no matter how good your timing. That's why rod progression gates everything (see the fishing & ranching guide for the rod table). The Bamboo Rod (1,000 G) clears every threshold except Tuna.

Deer Statue Pond — The Best Spot in the Game

The community's #1 spot: Deer Statue Pond, reachable in the River Valley area. It's the only pool with a 0% junk rate — every cast produces a fish or a Gold Fish — and it's where the famous Gold Fish farming loop lives:

  • Catch rate: ~6.25% per cast (Lv.4 Gold Fish weight 2 ÷ total weight 32 with the Lv.0 commons).
  • Season: the Gold Fish bites during the dry season (Early/Harsh Dry).
  • Also here: Carp, Grass Carp, Shrimp, and with the water-purifier modifier unlocked, Rainbow Trout and Koi; Catfish replace the day list at night.
  • Rod: any rod works for the commons, but the Gold Fish needs at least the Bamboo tier.
The Gold Fish loop funds the mid-game

One 1.0 guide's phrase says it best: "set up a Gold Fish farming loop at Deer Statue Pond during the Dry Season — that single spot funds everything else in the game." With 0% trash and a 6.25% Gold Fish rate, a morning of casting beats most crop rows for raw gold, and it never fights the weather.

The Dock — Tuna, Glow Eel and the Trash Tax

The Doloc Dock is the saltwater spot: Kelp, Sardine, Cod, Bass, and the two most famous rare fish in the game. The catch: it runs a 20–25% junk rate, so patience is mandatory.

  • Tuna — the top-tier saltwater fish; requires the Carbon Fiber rod (5,000 G from Paiea at Kon-Tiki). Community reports call it genuinely ultra-rare; be prepared for a long grind.
  • Glow Eel — ultra-rare, scorching-day weather only at the Dock. Check the weather forecast and head to the dock when a heat event is predicted; even with the high-end rod it's patience and multiple scorching-day attempts.
  • Mimicry Fish — the rarest fish in the game, Dock only, no weather requirement — pure probability with the lowest catch rate of any fish.
  • Cod / Sardine / Kelp — the workhorses; Kelp also drops from rain/thunder/acid rain conditions and is used in recipes.

Mountain Pond — The Sturgeon Payday

The Mountain Pond (elevated area in the River Valley) requires the double jump to reach — the exploration milestone from the regions guide. It holds:

  • Sturgeon — the 1,500 G trophy fish; requires the Bamboo (or better) rod and specific conditions (some guides list Harsh Dry weather windows).
  • Rainbow Trout — rainy-season catch, needs the water-purifier modifier.

Wetlands and Cave Pools — The Rarest Habitats

  • Wetlands pools (reachable via hovercraft — the unlock chain is in the regions guide) hold Pike (daytime only, 06:00–18:00), Ricefield Eel and the Aquatic Chameleon Bug — a mutation-research target for the Kon-Tiki faction. The Wetlands stay rainy year-round, so its pool conditions differ from the seasonal calendar.
  • Cave pools (inside the cave system — see the caves guide) hide a few species that don't appear anywhere else; the hidden wetland spot also rewards the Fishbowl Hat cosmetic for fishing it.
  • Forest Pond / Lotus Pond / Old City pools round out the list with Four-eyed Fish, Needlefish and the Old City's deep-water catches (Catfish, Grass Carp).

Don't waste casts at the wrong pool

The biggest fishing time-sink in Doloc Town is standing at a pool the target fish can't spawn in. Salmon appears only during the Salmon Festival (Light Rain 25–27, one per save); the Glow Eel needs scorching days; Tuna needs the Carbon rod. Check the conditions table before you travel — community guides all say the same thing: "check the exact pool, season, weather, rod and time, or you're just feeding the trash."

The One-Per-Save Rewards

A few special catches are limited to one per save and worth planning around:

  • Salmon — only during the Salmon Festival window; the collection book needs exactly one.
  • Special Melody #1 (music disc) — caught at the freshwater/Dock pools during Light Rain 25–27.
  • Damp Cloth Strip rewards — three separate one-per-save rewards from freshwater, Deep Forest and Dock pools (crafting material for quests).
  • Lucky Fishhook — the double-catch accessory, rewarded by the Kon-Tiki "Special Fish Survey" faction mission (and sold by Paiea later).

For the full fish-by-pool database, our fishing & ranching guide covers rods, pools and the 40+ species the official description promises — the community has documented roughly 23–31 so far in 1.0, and the encyclopedia is still filling in.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best fishing spot in Doloc Town?

Deer Statue Pond — the only pool with a 0% trash rate, and the home of the Gold Fish farming loop (~6.25% per cast, dry season). It funds the mid-game single-handedly.

Where do I catch the Gold Fish in Doloc Town?

Deer Statue Pond during the dry season (Early/Harsh Dry), with at least the Bamboo rod. ~6.25% catch rate per cast, 0% trash, plus Carp, Grass Carp, Shrimp, Rainbow Trout and Koi (with the water modifier) and night Catfish.

Where do I catch the Glow Eel in Doloc Town?

Only at the Doloc Dock, and only on scorching-day weather — check the forecast and fish during heat events with the high-end rod. It's extremely rare even then; multiple scorching-day sessions are normal.

Where do I catch the Sturgeon in Doloc Town?

The Mountain Pond in the River Valley — you need the double jump to reach it. Requires the Bamboo (or better) rod and specific windows (some guides list Harsh Dry). It sells for 1,500 G.

Do I need the Carbon rod in Doloc Town?

Only for Tuna at the Dock. The Bamboo rod (1,000 G) clears every other hook threshold in the game, so it's the completion-critical purchase; Fiberglass and Carbon just make the minigame easier.
