Escape From Tarkov Reserve Map: Extracts, Glukhar and the Best Military Loot in the Game

Reserve is the Federal State Reserve Agency base — a secret military depot built to survive a nuclear war, full of intel, tech and weapons, and guarded by the map boss Glukhar, his six guards, and squads of raiders. Raids run 40 minutes with 9–12 PMCs, and the map is a chessboard: the buildings are named after chess pieces (King, Bishop, Knight, Rook, Pawn) around a central dome and a bunker system that connects them underground (IGN — Reserve, eft-ammo Reserve guide). The catch is extraction: Reserve has the most condition-heavy extract list in the game — the armored train, a hermetic door that needs a lever, a cliff descent that needs a Red Rebel and paracord, and a sewer manhole that makes you drop your backpack. This guide covers every extract and requirement, Glukhar and the raiders, the marked-room keys, the loot routes, and the survival rules that keep your haul out.

Reserve at a Glance

Reserve is a medium map with a whole underground layer. Above ground, the key landmarks are the Dome (radar station on the hill), the King building (central 3-story), the Black/White Bishop and Knight buildings (tech and meds), the Rook/Pawn barracks, the train station, and the helipad. Below ground, a bunker network connects several buildings and holds some of the best loose loot in the game — and the D-2 extract (eft-ammo, IGN).

Stat Value
Raid duration 40 minutes
PMC players 9–12
Main boss Glukhar (Reserve, ~41–50%) + guards; raider squads
Stationary weapons AGS-30 grenade launcher, NSV 12.7x108 heavy machine gun
Signature loot Intelligence folders (40+ spawns), GPUs, Tetriz, marked rooms
Extracts 9+ PMC extracts, almost all condition-based

Reserve's identity is risk-reward: the loot density rivals Streets, but every extract demands something from you, and the raiders and Glukhar patrol the richest zones. It's the map where "know your extract before you commit to the loot" stops being advice and becomes the survival rule — the exact discipline the wipe guide's early-season playbook preaches.

Reserve extracts will betray you if you plan for one exit

Unlike Customs or Woods, there is no always-open easy exit on Reserve. Sewer Manhole requires no backpack, Cliff Descent requires Red Rebel + paracord + no armored vest, D-2 requires restoring power, and the train runs on its own schedule. Before you loot deep, confirm at least two usable extracts from your spawn — this is the map where "no extract left" deaths happen most.

Every PMC Extract on Reserve

The full PMC extract list with requirements, cross-checked across IGN, GFinity, eft-ammo and the official wiki (IGN — Reserve extracts, GFinity):

Extract Requirement Notes
Armored Train None — arrives 25–35 min in Single-use; honks twice on arrival, 7-minute window
Bunker Hermetic Door Pull the lever in the shack SW of the helicopter 4-minute open window with a loud siren — announces your extract to the server
D-2 Restore power in the command bunker first Underground extract; popular but campable
Cliff Descent Red Rebel ice pick + paracord + no armored vest The "looted everything" extract; requires the gear ahead of time
Sewer Manhole No backpack equipped Free and always open if you're bagless
Scav Lands PMC + friendly player Scav together Co-op extract
Depot Hermetic Door / CP Fence / Heating Pipe / Hole in Fence Scav-only extracts Not usable by PMCs

The train is the map's signature moment: it arrives between minute 25 and 35, stays 7 minutes, and everyone with a haul converges on it — expect the fight of the raid right at the tracks (GFinity).

The bagless extract trick

Sewer Manhole is the most reliable out: drop your backpack (hide it in a bush or hand it to a teammate), extract through the manhole, and come back for the bag on a Scav run — the classic Reserve insurance policy. Bring cheap bags on purpose if you plan to use it.

Glukhar, the Reserve Boss

Glukhar is the hardest of the "classic" map bosses: he spawns with up to six guards split into scout, security and assault roles, and he's one of the few bosses with genuinely dangerous AI coordination (scouts push, security rushes, assault guards hold formation around him). Current data puts him at roughly 50% on Reserve (timesaver boss data; older trackers quoted ~41% — patch-dependent). His loadouts are the ASh-12 or an M1A, and he wears heavy armor; headshots are the reliable kill (Gamers Decide guide).

He spawns at five locations: the Black Bishop buildings, Black Knight, White Knight, and K station (the train station). The guards carry everything from 9mm SMGs (scouts) to assault rifles with class 4–5 armor (security/assault), so the fight is really a small battle — grenades to split the squad, range to avoid the rush, and never looting the boss until every guard is confirmed dead (Gamers Decide, official wiki — Glukhar). He also appears on Streets of Tarkov alongside Killa, which the bosses guide covers in the full table.

Raiders: The Other Threat

Reserve is one of the few maps where raiders (elite AI soldiers) spawn in raids — around the train station, the bunker and the helipad. Raiders aim and push like PMCs, wear class 4–5 armor and drop high-tier loot, which makes them both the map's best loot source and its most consistent death cause. Player Scavs farm them constantly for gear, so the map has one of the highest player-Scav populations in the game — treat every raider fight as a potential third-party ambush (diamondlobby quest guide notes the Scav population).

Keys and the Marked Rooms

Reserve has 29 keys and the best marked-room economy in the game. The ones that pay (per the eft-ammo key breakdown and community guides):

  • RB-BK, RB-VO, RB-SMP, RB-PSP1, RB-PSP2 — the marked rooms: weapon cases, key tools, grenade cases and rare medical items
  • RB-ST — tank batteries and attachments (sells well, barter value)
  • RB-AM — firesteel and military cables
  • RB-PS81 — intelligence folder spawns (up to 6 in one room)
  • RB-TB — tech loot (GPUs, Tetriz)
  • RB-KSM — needed for Therapist's Disease History quest (medical journals in White Bishop)

Marked-room keys are the Reserve money-maker: a single good marked-room hit (keytool, weapons case, keycard) pays for the key and then some. The Customs guide covers the dorm marked room on that map, but Reserve's are the volume play.

Loot Routes: Where the Value Actually Is

Reserve's economy runs on intel and tech (eft-ammo Reserve guide):

  • Intelligence folders — 40+ spawns across King (2nd floor), White Knight and Black Knight; a docs case and one route can yield 3–6 folders per raid
  • King building — GPU/Tetriz spawns on the first floor; central and contested
  • Black Bishop — tech stores (GPUs, Tetriz) and meds; the 3rd floor has a GPU spawn
  • White Bishop — the medical building; LEDX-adjacent loot and meds
  • Bunker system — hoses, military cables, valuables in the tunnels
  • Marked rooms — the jackpot rolls

The classic veteran route is a docs-case loop: spawn near the chess buildings, hit King and the Knight/Bishop rooms for intel and tech, take the bunker to the D-2 area, and extract via D-2 or the train — or dump the bag and hit Sewer Manhole. It's also worth noting the map is small enough that the best settings for visibility genuinely matter: dim underground lighting means PostFX clarity settings separate "I saw him first" from "I never saw him".

Per the official Escape from Tarkov Wiki — Reserve, the base is "a secret Federal State Reserve Agency base that, according to urban legends, contains enough supplies to last for years: food, medications, and other resources, enough to survive an all-out nuclear war."

Frequently Asked Questions

How many players are on the Reserve map?

9–12 PMCs per raid, on a 40-minute timer. On top of that, Reserve has one of the highest player-Scav populations in the game because raider kills are such good loot — expect more total players than the PMC count suggests.

What are the Reserve extracts and their requirements?

The armored train (arrives minute 25–35, single-use), Bunker Hermetic Door (lever by the helicopter, 4-minute window), D-2 (restore power first), Cliff Descent (Red Rebel + paracord, no armored vest), Sewer Manhole (no backpack), Scav Lands (co-op), plus Scav-only extracts. Almost none are free — plan two.

Where does Glukhar spawn on Reserve?

At five locations: the Black Bishop buildings, Black Knight, White Knight and K station (train station), with up to six guards. Current spawn rate is roughly 50% (patch-dependent; older data ~41%).

What keys should I bring to Reserve?

The marked-room set (RB-BK, RB-VO, RB-SMP, RB-PSP1/2), plus RB-ST, RB-AM, RB-PS81 and RB-TB for tech and intel. RB-KSM is needed for a Therapist quest. That's a lot of keys — run a keytool and prioritize the marked rooms.

Is Reserve good for loot?

It's the best military loot map in the game — intel folders, GPUs, Tetriz, marked rooms and raider gear. The cost is the extract system and the raider/Glukhar pressure. Bring a plan for extraction before you bring a bag.
