Scrap Mechanic Map & Locations — Warehouses, Workshops, Quests & the 1.0 World

Scrap Mechanic's survival world is procedurally generated, but its key locations repeat in every world: the crashed ship, the Mechanic Station, the Farmers Hideout, warehouses, workshops and the Cultivators. The 1.0 update reworked the surface and added the underground chapter. This guide maps what you'll find and what each location is for.

Starting Zone: The Crash Site

  • Crashed Maintenance Ship — your spawn point; contains the Master Battery socket, the Mini Craftbot and the Ship Terminal
  • Ruin nearby — holds the Master Battery that activates everything
  • Builder Guide — pick it up to start the "Your First Car" quest

Crafting Hubs

  • Mechanic Station — the crafting heart: Craftbot, Refinebot, Cookbot, Dressbot and the Resource Collector all live here
  • Garage — build and test creations without survival pressure (achievement: build something in the Garage)
  • Farmers Hideout — the trader: exchange rescued farmers and food crates for recipes (pistons, logic gates, spud guns)

PvE Locations

  • Warehouses — large buildings with advanced supplies; the mid-game loot source. Looting them pushes the story forward (warehouse-related quests)
  • Workshops — crafting-part hotspots; also a quest anchor
  • Cultivators — enemy-packed fields holding new seeds; high-risk, high-reward farming locations
  • Grow Labs — the seed sources; the first Grow Lab's chest holds the carrot seed (achievement-linked)
  • Ruin City & Silo District — late-game zones dense with enemies, loot crates and ruin chests

The 1.0 Underground Map

Drilling Thunder added a full underground layer:

  • Abandoned mines — the entry to underground progression
  • Underground caves — resource-rich pockets
  • The planet's core — the chapter's climax, with treasure and story secrets
  • Mining Hub — the underground station whose stations you activate (achievement: "Up and running")

Full mining content is in the 1.0 & Drilling Thunder guide.

The world is procedural

Exact coordinates differ per world, but the location types above always exist. If you're lost, follow the quest log — the Ship Terminal's quest list points you to the next anchor.

Quest Flow (Rough Order)

  1. Battery quest → activate ship
  2. Your First Car → vehicle quest
  3. Builder quests → station setup
  4. Farmer rescues → Hideout recipes
  5. Warehouse push → mid-game loot
  6. Mining Hub → underground chapter (1.0)
