Scrap Mechanic Bots & Enemies — Farmbots, Haybots, Seekerbots & All Hostiles
Every Scrap Mechanic enemy explained: Farmbots, Haybots, Totebots, Minerbots, Seekerbots and Tapebots — behavior, weaknesses and the weapons that counter them.
Scrap Mechanic Bots & Enemies — Farmbots, Haybots, Seekerbots & All Hostiles
Scrap Mechanic's planet is full of haywire robots, and each bot type has its own behavior and threat level. Knowing what you're fighting — and the right counter — is half the survival battle. This guide covers every enemy in the game, including the 1.0 additions.

The Bot Roster
| Bot | Threat | Behavior & Counter |
|---|---|---|
| Farmbot | Baseline | Melee rusher, raid bread-and-butter; kill with spud guns or vehicles |
| Haybot | Mid | Slightly tougher farmbot variant; water cannon works ("Wet circuits" achievement) |
| Totebot | Mid | Carries loot; the Junkyard achievement wants 100 kills |
| Minerbot | High | Underground chapter enemy; armored, hits hard — drill-and-run or turret kills |
| Seekerbot | High | Tracks you; the "Surviving the impossible" achievement enemy — avoid early, ambush late |
| Tapebot | Ranged | Shoots from range; blue variant is the Cornade achievement target |
Every bot type has a cheap counter: Farmbots die to spud guns from a platform, Seekerbots ambush from walls, and water cannons control crowds without burning ammo. Match the tool to the bot and raids become routine.
Combat Fundamentals
- The spud gun is your primary — ammo comes from potatoes, so the auto farm directly feeds combat
- Vehicles are weapons — ramming builds, turret mounts and crushing chassis outperform handheld combat (see vehicle building)
- Elevation wins — bots struggle with verticality; fight from a raised position
- Water cannons for control — knock back without killing, sets up kills and achievements
Raid Enemy Mixes
Raid level changes the mix: low raids are Farmbot-only, higher raids blend Haybots, Totebots and Minerbots. The raid defense guide covers the level math and the funnel defense that handles mixed waves.
1.0 Enemy Changes
- Seekerbot is the marquee 1.0 threat — its tracking behavior punishes careless exploration underground
- Underground chapters introduce tougher bot mixes near the planet's core
- The new boss fight caps the campaign
Achievement Targets
Several achievements are bot-kill counters:
- Haybot Junkyard — destroy 100 Haybots
- Totebot Junkyard — destroy 100 Totebots
- Minerbot Junkyard — destroy 100 Minerbots
- Wet circuits — soak a Haybot with water
- Lethal snack — kill a blue Tapebot with a Cornade
Full routes in the achievements guide.
FAQ
What's the strongest enemy? The Seekerbot (tracks you relentlessly) and the chapter boss. Minerbots are the toughest common enemy.
Can I avoid combat? Mostly — keep the farm small (8 crops/chunk avoids raids) and stay on the surface early. Underground is unavoidable for story.
Do bots respawn? Yes — bot spawns replenish around active zones and raids.
What's the best first weapon? The spud gun, once you can buy its recipe from the Farmers Hideout and farm potatoes.
