How to Start the Train in Big Walk — Big Ride Achievement
Learn exactly how to start the train in Big Walk: the Blue Tower puzzles, the lighthouse dials, the key cutters, and the Big Ride achievement.
How to Start the Train in Big Walk — Big Ride Achievement
Big Walk's train is the game's long-distance transport — a slow-moving train that loops around the map, and one of the most satisfying unlocks in the game. Starting it requires working your way through the Blue Tower area: solve the puzzles, collect the rewards, unlock the key, and insert it at the train station. This guide walks you through the whole chain, step by step.
Here's what you'll learn:
- Where the train and Blue Tower are located
- How the Blue Tower's five puzzles feed into the unlock
- The lighthouse dials and how to slot them
- The key cutter chain and final key insertion
- How to get the Big Ride achievement

Where to Find the Train and Blue Tower
The train station and the Blue Tower sit in the blue-lighthouse area of the map. You'll need the foldable map (unlocked after the Red Tower) to orient yourself — the Blue Tower region is marked by its lighthouse landmark and the rail line that loops the area.
Three trains in total loop the map once activated. They're slow-moving, so treat them as a scenic way to travel between regions rather than a fast-travel system.
The map room (and the foldable map) unlocks after the Red Tower. Every tower-hunting trip — including this one — is dramatically easier with the map. If you haven't done the Red Tower yet, go do that first.
Step 1: Complete the Blue Tower Puzzles
The train only starts once you've worked through the Blue Tower area's objectives. The Blue Tower's five puzzles (Heavy Ball, Locked Yellow Room, Scaffold House, Color Tile, and Beach Tower — full solutions in our puzzle guide) each reward a collectible.
Collect all of them and place them into the slots at the top of the Blue Tower (or into the lighthouse slots — see Step 2). Once all rewards are in, the tower releases its key.
The train won't start without the Blue Tower key, and you can't get the key without all five puzzle rewards. If the key machine looks inactive, check you haven't missed a puzzle in the Blue Tower area.
Step 2: Slot the Dials at the Lighthouse
The core of the unlock chain is the blue lighthouse. Take the five dials (the puzzle rewards) and insert them into the slots on the lighthouse. There's no required order — just slot all five in. This opens the way to the key.
Sources describe the unlock slightly differently (some name the tower top slots, others the lighthouse dials) — both point to the same chain: collect five rewards from the Blue Tower area, slot them in, get the key.
Step 3: Cut the Key
Once you have the key, follow the key cutter chain:
- Head to the first key cutter (just outside the tower base / at the bottom of the tower)
- Cut the key — a marker appears on top of the next pillar, pointing to the next cutter
- Repeat until the key is fully cut into the right shape
This is the same key-cutting ritual used everywhere in Big Walk — follow the arrows.
Step 4: Insert the Key at the Train Station
With the key fully cut, head inside the building near the train station and insert the key. This is the moment everything pays off:
- All trains on the map start moving
- Jump onto the nearest train to earn the Big Ride achievement
The whole chain — from arriving at the lighthouse area to the train moving — takes about 15-20 minutes if you know where you're going (closer to an hour if you're exploring blind).

The train doesn't just look nice — it's the practical way to reach far-flung corners of the map, including the secret shiny room near the lighthouse and parts of the Yellow Tower region that are painful to walk to.
