Helldivers 2 Super Citizen Edition: What's Included

Helldivers 2 Super Citizen Edition explained: every bonus (DP-53 armor, MP-98 Knight, Warbond Token), the $19.99 upgrade, and whether it's worth buying in 2026.

Helldivers 2 Super Citizen Edition — What's Included and Is It Worth It?

The Helldivers 2 Super Citizen Edition costs $59.99 (or a $19.99 upgrade over the $39.99 base game) and adds the DP-53 Savior of the Free armor set, the Will of the People cape, the MP-98 Knight SMG, a Super Citizen nameplate title, the Stratagem Hero ship minigame, and one Premium Warbond Token that unlocks any non-Legendary Warbond of your choice. Nothing in it is meta-defining: the armor's Democracy Protects passive is genuinely useful early, but the same passive exists on a free armor in the Helldivers Mobilize Warbond, and the Knight is a fun-but-frail SMG. The real value is the Warbond Token, which skips the 1,000 Super Credit grind.

This guide breaks down every item in the edition, the current prices on all platforms, what changed when the Xbox version launched, and who should (and shouldn't) pay the upgrade fee.

Helldivers 2 Editions Compared (2026)

Edition Price What you get
Standard $39.99 Base game only
Super Citizen Edition $59.99 Base game + all Super Citizen bonuses below
Super Citizen Edition — Upgrade $19.99 The bonuses only (requires base game)

The Super Citizen Edition launched with the game on February 8, 2024 as a $59.99 bundle, and the standalone upgrade has been $19.99 on PlayStation ever since — a $10 saving over buying 1,000 Super Credits to fund a Warbond the old way. Note that the base game is frequently discounted: at the time of writing the Steam version is 25% off at $29.99, which is a good moment to buy the base and upgrade together for $49.98.

Every Super Citizen Edition Bonus, Ranked by Value

1. Premium Warbond Token — the best part

Originally the Super Citizen Edition shipped with the Steeled Veterans Warbond attached. After players complained they were paying for an old, dated pass they might already own, Arrowhead replaced it on August 26, 2025 (the Xbox launch day) with a Warbond Token: one redemption that lets you claim any Premium Warbond of your choice — including the newest ones — without spending a single Super Credit. Since every Premium Warbond costs 1,000 Super Credits ($9.99), this token is worth roughly $10 on its own, which is why most "is it worth it?" discussions end at this line. It cannot redeem Legendary crossover Warbonds (Halo ODST, Warhammer 40K), and it does not transfer between platforms.

Official source: The Mirror — Warbond Tokens explained — "The Helldivers 2 Warbond Tokens are set to replace the Steeled Veterans Warbond in the Helldivers 2 Super Citizen Edition... The feature allows players to redeem a Warbond of their choice without spending any in-game currency."

2. DP-53 Savior of the Free armor — the only gameplay-relevant item

A medium armor set (50 armor rating on the standard medium profile) whose passive, Democracy Protects, gives you a 50% chance to survive lethal damage and stops bleeding damage from chest hemorrhages. It's the exact same passive as the DP-40 Hero of the Federation armor from the free Helldivers Mobilize Warbond, so this is a cosmetic premium over a free equivalent — but for new players it's a genuinely strong early-game survival pick, and the set itself (armor + helmet + cape variant) looks good. Prima Games and FandomWire both rate it as the edition's most useful gameplay item.

3. MP-98 Knight — fun, not meta

A one-handed SMG with light armor penetration, a 50-round magazine and roughly 1,300 RPM fire rate. Being one-handed means you can carry objectives and use it while running; the tradeoff is high recoil and a magazine that empties in about 2.2 seconds. It's a serviceable early primary — better than the starting Liberator for aggressive play — but every serious tier list ranks it mid-tier at best. It's the same weapon given to Super Citizen Edition owners on every platform, so it's a convenience, not a chase item.

4. Stratagem Hero — the sleeper hit

A ship minigame (included in the Super Citizen Edition) where you type stratagem codes as fast as possible for a high score. It's genuinely useful: practicing codes there builds the muscle memory that saves your life mid-mission when you need an Orbital Railcannon in three seconds. The stratagems guide goes into why code speed matters; this cabinet is the zero-risk way to train it.

5. Will of the People cape + Super Citizen status — pure cosmetics

The cape is a cosmetic with no stats, and the "Super Citizen" title is a nameplate badge shown next to your name in lobbies. Both exist to show support for the cause (and let other players know you bought the expensive edition). Zero gameplay impact.

The Pre-Order Armor Situation (Xbox)

When the Xbox Series X|S version launched on August 26, 2025, pre-ordering either edition on Xbox granted three extra armor sets: TR-7 Ambassador of the Brand, TR-62 Knight and TR-9 Cavalier of Democracy. These were exclusive to the Xbox pre-order window and have not returned as of mid-2026. PC and PS5 players who missed the original February 2024 pre-order window cannot get them at all. If you're buying on Xbox second-hand or late, don't expect them.

Who Should Buy the Upgrade — and Who Shouldn't

Buy it if: you're new and want a strong early armor passive plus a free Warbond — the token alone nearly pays for the upgrade, and Stratagem Hero is a legit training tool. Skip it if: you already own every Warbond you care about, or you only want the armor (grind the free Helldivers Mobilize Warbond for the DP-40 Hero of the Federation with the same passive). Veterans who play weekly and own most Warbonds consistently land on "not worth it" — GameRant's breakdown sums up the community consensus: cosmetic bonuses + one-time token, no ongoing advantage.

Don't double-buy on a second platform

All of this content is per-platform — buy the upgrade on Steam and it won't appear on your PS5 save. The crossplay guide explains why there's no cross-save, so decide your "home" platform before spending the $19.99.

Is the Super Citizen Edition the Only DLC?

Helldivers 2 has no expansion packs in the traditional sense. The game's entire post-launch content model is Warbonds (battle-pass style reward tracks costing 1,000 Super Credits, or 1,500 for Legendary crossovers) plus free updates that add weapons, enemies and stratagems to everyone. The Super Citizen upgrade is the only paid "edition" DLC, and its contents have never been sold separately beyond the token. So the "helldivers 2 dlc" question has a simple answer: there's nothing else to buy — your $19.99 upgrade plus optional Super Credit purchases for Warbonds is the complete paid picture.

Frequently Asked Questions

What comes with the Helldivers 2 Super Citizen Edition?

Six things: the DP-53 Savior of the Free armor set (Democracy Protects passive), the Will of the People cape, the MP-98 Knight SMG, the Super Citizen nameplate title, the Stratagem Hero ship minigame, and one Premium Warbond Token that unlocks any non-Legendary Premium Warbond of your choice.

How much does the Super Citizen Edition upgrade cost?

The bundle is $59.99; the standalone upgrade (if you own the base game) is $19.99 on PlayStation, with equivalent regional pricing on Steam and Xbox. The base game frequently goes on sale — 25% off at $29.99 at the time of writing.

Is the Super Citizen Edition worth it in 2026?

For new players, yes — the Warbond Token is worth ~$10 in Super Credits, the armor passive is a solid early survival tool, and Stratagem Hero trains code input. For veterans who own most Warbonds, the value collapses to cosmetics and it's a pass.

What is the Premium Warbond Token in Helldivers 2?

It's a one-time redemption item added on August 26, 2025 that lets you claim any Premium (non-Legendary) Warbond without spending Super Credits. It replaced the Steeled Veterans Warbond that the edition originally included.

Can you upgrade from the standard edition to Super Citizen?

Yes. The Super Citizen Edition Upgrade is sold separately on every platform for $19.99 — you keep your existing progress, and all bonuses are granted immediately on purchase.
