Every Helldivers 2 enemy listed by faction — Terminids, Automatons and Illuminate — with weak points, counters and the 2026 subfactions explained.
Helldivers 2 Enemies — Full List and Weak Points by Faction
Helldivers 2 has three enemy factions — the Terminids (bugs), the Automatons (bots) and the Illuminate (squids) — plus three 2026 subfactions that reshuffle how each one fights. There are well over a hundred unique enemy types across the three factions by mid-2026, from the Scavenger at the bottom of the bug food chain to the Factory Strider, Bile Titan, Harvester and the new flying Dragonroach at the top. Every enemy in this guide comes with its weak point and the weapon class that kills it fastest, because in Helldivers 2 the right target selection matters more than raw DPS.
This guide lists every enemy worth knowing by faction, covers the weak-point system itself (armor penetration tiers), and explains the subfactions and 2026 additions — including the Stalkers, Hulks, Chargers and Overseers players search for most.

How Enemy Armor and Weak Points Work
Before the lists, one system explains everything: armor penetration tiers. Every weapon has light, medium or heavy penetration, and every enemy body part has an armor value. Hit a part with a weapon one tier below its armor and the shot ricochets (you'll see the deflection symbol and deal no damage). The community's tested rule of thumb, per the Helldivers Wiki's damage system:
- Light armor — most chaff: Scavengers, Hunters, Troopers, Voteless. Any weapon works; aim for heads/legs.
- Medium armor — Hive Guards, Devastators, Scout Striders, Overseers. Needs medium-pen weapons (Liberator Penetrator, Scorcher, most energy weapons) or weak-point shots.
- Heavy armor — Chargers, Hulks, Bile Titans, Tanks, Factory Striders, Harvesters. Only heavy-pen weapons (Eruptor, Autocannon, Railgun, Recoilless) or explosives do real damage head-on.
Almost every armored enemy has a rear or joint weak spot — the universal exception rule being that flanking beats firepower.
Per the official Helldivers Wiki — Factions, the game's enemies are grouped under Terminids, Automatons and Illuminate, with the Rupture Strain (Terminid), Cyborg Legion (Automaton) and Vote Snatchers (Illuminate) subfactions introduced through 2025–2026 updates.
Terminids (Bugs) — Full Enemy List
The bugs swarm in melee hordes and are weak to fire and explosive damage. Full roster as of mid-2026:
| Enemy | Threat | Weak point / counter |
|---|---|---|
| Scavenger | Chaff | Head/legs; any weapon |
| Pouncer | Chaff | Head; fast melee jumper |
| Hunter | Chaff | Head (body is tanky) |
| Warrior | Light | Head; breaks into "zombie mode" after head pops |
| Hive Guard | Medium | Destroy both mandibles; not the legs |
| Brood / Alpha Commander | Medium | Head weak point; body has huge HP |
| Nursing Spewer | Medium | Belly/exposed parts |
| Bile Spewer | Medium | Belly |
| Charger | Heavy | Leg armor (500 HP shell) → exposed leg; head one-shot with AT; rear unarmored tail |
| Impaler | Heavy | Neck weak point (one-shot with Recoilless) |
| Bile Titan | Heavy | Head/underbelly; needs anti-tank |
| Shriekers | Air | Light armor; shoot out of the sky |
| Stalker | Ambush | Head/underbelly; 800 HP; find and destroy the Stalker Lair |
| Dragonroach (2026) | Heavy air | Exosuits, FAF-14 Spear, Orbital Railcannon; fast flyer with big AoE |
Stalkers: the enemy everyone searches for
Stalkers are the community's most-hated bug: they camouflage almost to invisibility, knock you over with their tongues, and regenerate about 50 HP per second while hidden. They spawn only from Stalker Lairs, an optional objective that appears from Challenging difficulty up. Key facts from the wiki: they reveal themselves about 20m away or when damaged, they pursue from ~150m, they're weak to fire (1.25x multiplier), and the lair itself contains up to two bug holes. Kill the lair, not just the stalkers — it keeps spawning them until destroyed.
Chargers: how to kill them fast
Chargers have 500 HP leg armor over a 500 HP unarmored leg, a 600 HP armored head, and a soft rear. The fastest kills: one anti-tank rocket (EAT, Recoilless, Quasar) to the head, or strip a leg and pour fire into it. Stun grenades plus a shot at the rear work without anti-tank. The Spore Charger variant (difficulty 6+) hides in spore fog and explodes on death, leaving a corrosive debuff. See our Recoilless Rifle guide for the one-shot loadout.
Automatons (Bots) — Full Enemy List
Bots shoot back, arrive by dropship, and die to headshots. They're the faction that punishes careless positioning:
| Enemy | Threat | Weak point / counter |
|---|---|---|
| Trooper / Raider / Commissar | Chaff | Headshots; medium-pen weapons |
| Marauder | Chaff | Head |
| Scout Strider | Light | Shoot the pilot through the front shield; legs |
| Berserker | Medium | Head; shotguns/explosives shred them |
| Devastator | Medium | Head/limbs; medium-pen weapons |
| Rocket Devastator | Medium | Same; kill before it fires |
| Hulk (Scorcher/Bruiser/Obliterator) | Heavy | Red visor (front) or rear heat sink vent |
| Tank | Heavy | Rear turret or treads; anti-tank |
| Factory Strider | Heavy boss | Eye, belly, or top cannon — anti-tank required |
| Gunship | Air | Shoot the thrusters/engine |
Hulks: the visor or the vent
Hulks have two real weak spots: the glowing red visor on the front (fastest kill if you can land it — the Anti-Materiel Rifle one-shots it) and the rear heat sink vent (bigger, easier, and destroying it triggers a bleed-out that kills the Hulk eventually). If you're getting shredded, break a leg or blow off the weapon arm instead of fighting for the eye. Orbital Railcannon Strike auto-targets and one-shots any Hulk.
Illuminate (Squids) — Full Enemy List
The Illuminate returned in December 2024 and fight with shields, energy weapons and teleportation — plus swarms of zombified citizens called Voteless:
| Enemy | Threat | Weak point / counter |
|---|---|---|
| Voteless | Chaff horde | Any weapon; headshots |
| Watcher | Scout | Kill fast — it calls reinforcements |
| Overseer | Medium | Medium pen bypasses its armor; headshots |
| Elevated Overseer | Medium air | Same; aim mid-air |
| Crescent Overseer (2026) | Medium | Shield-focused variant |
| Fleshmob | Heavy | Anti-tank |
| Harvester | Heavy | Anti-tank (Quasar/EAT); shields regenerate |
| Stingray | Air | Turret/underside |
| Warp Ship | Structure | Anti-tank emplacement, Recoilless |
| Leviathan (D7+) | Boss airship | Three weak points on the underbelly — Recoilless or Anti-Tank Emplacement |
| Wretch + Crusher (2026) | New heavy | Wretch: limbs (not head); Crusher: knock off the helmet, then the tiny head |
The 2026 Illuminate additions
The Devoid of Liberty update (August 2026) added two genuinely new threats: Wretches, six-limbed necromorph-style enemies whose weak point is their limbs (crowd control and fire counter them), and Crushers, regenerating giants that heal when ignored — blow off their triangular helmet, then kill the exposed head with burst damage.
Subfactions: How 2026 Changed the Enemy Roster
Three subfactions layer extra behavior on top of the base factions:
- Rupture Strain (Terminids) — bugs that burrow underground and emerge under you, specializing in speed and ambush. They spawned from the expeditions into the Gloom.
- Cyborg Legion (Automatons) — added with the Machinery of Oppression update (February 2026): cybernetically enhanced human fighters including the Agitator, Radical and Vox Engine, the last being a walking artillery piece with a devastating laser cannon. This is the enemy type you face on Cyberstan missions — see our razing guide for how to handle the Megafactory biome they call home.
- Vote Snatchers (Illuminate) — an Illuminate subfaction that replaces some units (Elevated Overseers and Stingrays don't spawn in their missions).
A gun that's S-tier against bugs can be dead weight against bots. The best weapons guide ranks every weapon per faction for exactly this reason — check the Bugs/Bots/Squids columns before you deploy.
Frequently Asked Questions
What are all the enemy factions in Helldivers 2?
Three: the Terminids (bug-like horde), the Automatons (ranged, armored robots) and the Illuminate (shield-using aliens with zombified Voteless). Each gained a subfaction through 2025–2026 updates: Rupture Strain, Cyborg Legion and Vote Snatchers.
How do you kill Stalkers in Helldivers 2?
Find and destroy the Stalker Lair (optional objective, Challenging+) — it spawns them indefinitely. Individual Stalkers have 800 HP, regenerate while camouflaged, and are 1.25x weak to fire. Shoot the head or underbelly; they reveal themselves at ~20m.
Where is the Hulk's weak spot?
The glowing red visor on the front (Anti-Materiel Rifle one-shots it) or the rear heat sink vent, which bleeds the Hulk out once destroyed. Breaking a leg or the weapon arm also works when you can't hit the eye.
How do you kill a Charger fast?
One anti-tank rocket to the head (EAT, Recoilless, Quasar), or strip a leg (500 HP shell) and shoot the exposed leg. Stun grenades + rear shots work without anti-tank. The Spore Charger variant hides in fog and explodes with a corrosive debuff on death.
What is the strongest enemy in Helldivers 2?
For raw firepower: the Automaton Factory Strider and the 2026 Dragonroach ("a big flying Bile Titan" per the developers). The Leviathan airship (Illuminate, difficulty 7+) is the tankiest, with three underbelly weak points that only anti-tank can reach.
