Big Walk is crossplay by default — there's no toggle to enable and no platform lock on lobbies. Players on PS5, Windows PC, Nintendo Switch 2 and macOS can all join the same session through Join Codes, regardless of which platform they bought the game on. Here's exactly how it works, plus the platform gaps you need to know about (Xbox isn't one of them — it doesn't exist).

Is Big Walk Crossplay?

Yes. Big Walk launched with full cross-platform multiplayer across all four platforms it exists on:

Steam's store listing confirms the "Cross-Platform Multiplayer" category, and IGN's platform listing matches: PC, Nintendo Switch 2 and PlayStation 5 (macOS rides on the Steam listing). There is no platform-specific friends list requirement — the Join Code is the whole mechanism.

How Crossplay Works

Big Walk has no automatic matchmaking and no crossplay toggle — crossplay is simply on:

  1. The host starts a session on any platform and generates a Join Code
  2. Friends on any other platform enter that code
  3. Everyone lands in the same world — voice chat, gestures, and puzzles all work identically

The catch: the host's save is the world state. Crossplay means different platforms play together in the host's world — it does not mean your progress carries to another platform or another host. If your PS5 friend hosts and you're on Steam, you're playing in their world and your Steam save has no part of it.

Pick one host for your group

Because the host owns the save, the same person should host every session if your group wants to keep progress. Rotating hosts between platforms resets the world each time.

Why There's No Xbox Version

Big Walk is not available on Xbox — no Xbox Series X/S version was announced at or after launch. House House and publisher Panic shipped the game on PC, macOS, PS5 and Switch 2 only. Consequently, there's also no Xbox Game Pass version. If you only have an Xbox, Big Walk is not playable on your hardware.

Xbox players: the game doesn't exist there

Every "is Big Walk on Xbox?" search lands on a no. It's a platform gap, not a delayed port — House House hasn't announced any Xbox plans.

Does Big Walk Have Cross-Save?

No. Crossplay and cross-save are separate things. Big Walk's save system is host-bound — progress lives entirely in the host's session save, and there's no cross-progression between platforms or accounts. If you switch from playing on your PS5 with one host to playing on your PC with another host, you start from their world state.

The one thing that does carry: Steam Cloud on the PC/macOS side backs up your host saves so the host can pick up where they left off on the same platform.

Crossplay Connection Troubleshooting

Crossplay sessions are player-hosted, which means connection issues usually trace back to the host:

  • Recheck the Join Code — codes are the join mechanism; a mistyped code fails silently
  • Check the host's connection — the host is the single point of failure for everyone
  • Crossplay is on by default — don't hunt for a toggle that doesn't exist
  • Full console restart clears most join weirdness on PS5 and Switch 2
