How to Find Codes (Without a Guide)
Codes aren't random — the game hides them in the world, and the intended flow is:
- Beat the elite enemy near the strongbox — the elite drops a voice code (a spoken number sequence)
- Read nearby documents — the code is also pinned on the map once you've found the clue
- Enter it on the box's directional lock — the box accepts the 4-digit sequence; the lock uses directional inputs in some versions, which is where the "sequence" rather than "digits" phrasing comes from in the guides
IGN's strongbox guide notes that the code-opened boxes (especially the Disposal Site 04180 box) carry the best early rewards in their region — the 772 Amber alone funds Koo's first ammo purchases and a recipe book or two.
