Remnant 2 N'Erud guide — the two storylines, Sha'Hala and Tal'Ratha, key dungeons like Void Vessel Facility, and the best loot to chase.
N'Erud Remnant 2 — World Guide, Storylines, Bosses & Loot
N'Erud is one of the three main worlds of Remnant 2 — a derelict Drzyr megastructure orbiting a black hole, where the alien race's servants still tend automated systems for masters long dead.
Per the official Steam store page for Remnant 2, the game's worlds are procedurally generated and its storylines roll randomly per playthrough — which is exactly why the two N'Erud storylines below both exist in one world. It rolls as one of the campaign's worlds (order randomized) and is notable for having two completely different storylines with different final bosses: the Sha'Hala path (start: Seeker's Rest) and the Tal'Ratha path (start: Forgotten Prison). N'Erud also holds some of the game's best-hidden loot: the Engineer archetype, the Void Heart relic, the Aphelion long gun, the Rupture Cannon and the Pulse Rifle. This guide maps the whole world — storylines, world bosses, dungeons and the top rewards.

What Is N'Erud?
N'Erud was built by the Drzyr as a vessel for their search for other sentient life; they found the "Seat of Creation" at the heart of a black hole and flew toward it, which is why the world is now a dead, fog-choked ruin full of N'Erud Zombies, Possessed and hostile robots. It's the game's sci-fi world and its tone is the most distinct of the three — no organic forests, just alien machinery, toxic fog and the Custodian's AI watching you. One world boss kill here drops the Segment you need to continue the campaign (the same drop Losomn and Yaesha's world bosses give).
The Two N'Erud Storylines
Your starting area decides everything. The Fextralife wiki and IGN both map them cleanly:
| Storyline | Starting area | Second zone | World boss | Key reward |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Travel to Alepsis-Taura | Seeker's Rest | Timeless Horizon | Sha'Hala: Spectral Guardian of N'Erud | Eidolon Shard; Void Heart (after Custodian's choice) |
| Tal'Ratha and the Shining Essence Echo | Forgotten Prison | Eon Vault | Tal'Ratha (Metaphysical form) | Tal'Ratha's material; the Shining Essence Echo item |
The Shining Essence Echo is the artifact at the heart of the second storyline — the quest around Tal'Ratha, the Astropath who warned the Drzyr against entering the black hole. Which storyline you get is random per roll; in Adventure Mode you can reroll until you see the start you want.
Sha'Hala: Spectral Guardian of N'Erud
The Alepsis-Taura path: collect the 3 Seeker's Keys (one in a Phantom Wasteland dungeon, one in a Timeless Horizon dungeon, plus the starting key) and ride the elevator up the Sentinel's Keep tower to trigger the fight. Sha'Hala is a giant floating entity whose weak spot is the orb at its center — its hands periodically cover it, and its attack patterns (hand beams, floor lasers, projectile volleys) are choreographed around punishing you for tunnel-visioning the orb. Defeating it drops the Eidolon Shard and unlocks the Custodian's choice: he drives N'Erud into the black hole to reach Alepsis-Taura, where you can pick up the Void Heart relic (a build-defining invulnerability-window relic) — at the cost of N'Erud being gone until your next reroll. If you want the Aphelion long gun, kill Sha'Hala while carrying the Override Pin (found in the Labyrinth) to get the alternate material.
Using the Override Pin during the Sha'Hala fight changes the drop (Aphelion instead of the standard Eidolon Shard path) and locks the biome after the Custodian's decision. Decide which weapon you want before you commit — you can't get both in one roll. Our bosses guide has the full boss roster.
Tal'Ratha and the Shining Essence Echo
The Forgotten Prison path sends you to retrieve the Soul Spark Cylinder for the imprisoned voice, then into the Astropath's Respite to meet Tal'Ratha himself. The fight has two forms — the standard fight and the Metaphysical variant (fought in the Tormented Asylum tileset), which is the one the community ranks among the hardest fights in the game thanks to its teleporting and AoE spam. Defeating Tal'Ratha yields the Shining Essence Echo and his crafting material, and the Custodian arc resolves around whether the Drzyr's last remnants deserve saving.
Key Dungeons and Their Best Loot
N'Erud's random dungeon pool holds some of the best secrets in the game:
- Void Vessel Facility — the Timeless Horizon side dungeon. Inside: the Fetid Corpse aberration (drops the Transference mutator + 2-7 Corrupted Lumenite), the Space Worker armor set (open the pod-room door with the Stasis Pod Glyph), the Tightly Wound Coil ring, the Atom Splitter melee (Stasis Pod Chamber platform puzzle) and several random-event rewards (Flooded Room items, Blackout Ring).
- Vault of the Formless — the stasis-chamber dungeon (spawns in the Abyssal Rift/Phantom Wasteland/Eon Vault/Timeless Horizon tilesets). Clearing the final horde unlocks the Fitness trait; riding the second rotating cylinder reveals a hidden path to the House Lythla Glyph, which opens the end room holding the Rupture Cannon handgun (plus the Metal Driver melee behind breakable vessels near the glyph).
- Dormant N'Erudian Facility — the other secret dungeon; completing it unlocks the Siphoner trait and it holds the Pulse Rifle long gun (multiple walkthroughs agree on both).
- Terminus Station (train event) — the Atom Smasher melee is in the last train wagon.
- Phantom Wasteland / Sentinel's Keep — the Seeker's Keys locations and the Sha'Hala arena approach.
The Best N'Erud Loot to Chase
- Engineer archetype — the Alien Device in the second zone's toxic fog; full route in our Engineer location guide.
- Void Heart — Alepsis-Taura relic after Sha'Hala; one of the best relics in the game.
- Aphelion — Sha'Hala + Override Pin; the Lovecraftian long gun with the Supernova mod.
- Rupture Cannon — Vault of the Formless glyph room; top-tier burst handgun.
- Pulse Rifle — Dormant N'Erudian Facility; the "never wrong" AR.
- Navigator's Helm, Star Shot, Difference Engine, Galvanized Resupply Band — Eon Vault's Supply Ship event and secret passages.
- Soul Spark Cylinder — quest item in the Eon Vault complex (needed for the Tal'Ratha storyline).
Because dungeons and events are random per roll, the standard completionist loop is: finish N'Erud, reroll it in Adventure Mode, hunt the dungeons you missed, repeat. Everything earned carries back to your campaign character. This is also the fastest way to farm the Engineer unlock and the Prism-of-Voracity world-boss kill.
